I keep learning things ...

Did you know that 'thot' was a word? I had a reader send me some suggested text changes because I wasn't using the most up to date slang. For those of you that don't know, thot means "That Ho Over There;" more or less a synonym for "slut".

I also learned that 'trap' means someone who would appear to be a cute heterosexual but is actually rather effeminate and gay.

To be honest I thought he'd made a typo when I read 'thot'.

I also received emails about Facebook not being the current preferred social media for young people.

It was suggested that I needed to find an editor that was young enough to know all this ... (my editors took offense when I called them old - LOL)

My first reaction was that they were right, I'm not a teen. Haven't been one in more years than I care to admit. I also don't hang out with teens, which is probably good because it would look a little creepy.

Then two things hit me.
1) Who reads my books?
2) If I make the changes to update it for today, will it date my books in five years?

I'm not saying that I won't at some point slip in a Welp, Thot or Trap reference because I will. I would make sure I defined it so people that aren't up to date with the latest slang know what it means.

I also think that it makes sense to not refer to a specific social media platform because they are changing.

I want to thank my readers for helping me. The goal is to continue to grow and improve as a writer.

Weird Not Posting On Saturday

Received emails wanting to know the schedule for both Senior Year Part I and II. Senior Part I will begin to post on SOL around the first of the year. We've identified several issues with the book via the pre-release. The editors have been busy helping me get it all straightened out. I want to point out their hard work and how much better they make the final product. Thanks guys.

Senior Year Part II has been started and I've actually gotten the plot line figured out and am through the first half of the book. The hope is to have it ready for pre-release by spring.

There will be a total of three books for Senior Year and I plan to get David and friends through graduation. When the third book is done it will be decision time. Do people still want to follow David as he goes off to college or not? Do I still have the muse fully engaged and able to find the story for college? If not, I might write a short ending book and call it a day.

For those that want Senior Year Part I now, check out my webpage for SOL readers: http://gyounger.com/books-for-sol-readers/

Thanks for all your kind words. It is what makes this all worthwhile.
