James is happy – he is married to the most beautiful woman in his world, has her mother adoring him, and his secretary is not bad at all. Love abounds - mishaps appear occasionally but are soon overcome. They buy a car for the countess, Anniversaries and Christmas bring presents, but at the New Year’s Ball, he must defend his life. He is honored as the Main Speaker at Hawaii's Annual IBM Sales Meeting, but then disaster strikes. What can he do now that one of his dreams has ended?
Please remember that the only reward a writer has is if the reader appreciates his effort and lets him know this by the rating he gives him.
One of my esteemed readers pointed out that it seemed that an important part was missing - when and how did he propose to her? Unfortunately, he was right. When re-formatting the story, two chapters fell through the crack. I corrected this. My apologies.
Please don't forget to rate the stories. Nothing is better for an author than to feel that his efforts were appreciated - even when he is told something was wrong. At least it was read....
James lost his father and has found his love. All is wonderful now? His future mother-in-law, initially so supportive, gets upset with him and a final presentation to her on her company’s future, almost ends in disaster. There is a showdown, and she faints. James and Maureen recover her and finally, the situation is resolved. What else can happen? He gets promoted, they marry, and go on a honeymoon in beautiful Bali. His secretary turns from a duckling to a swan. Once in a while, the good guys win.
In the 1970s, I lived and worked in Sydney, Australia, and was always fascinated by the people and the country. Unfortunately, my career led me to other countries, and I settled in Brazil. Retiring about five years ago, I started writing a story about two people falling in love. To my surprise, the story took on its own life and developed into a long novel. I published it on SoL, and it was well received.
I was not too fond of it, however, and looked for an editor. No luck. It stayed in SoL archives until I found a very competent editor, who offered very graciously and competently to look through my story and improve it.
What you find now is a tale re-written, edited, and checked competently for errors and inconsistencies by rlfj, and much better than my first attempt. It is a fantasy about people falling in love, succeeding in business, having fun, resolving their problems, and improving the world.
The first part that you’ll read soon, shows a young German workaholic businessman meeting a young girl at a party in Sydney, and with the help of a bottle of Grange Hermitage, a Porsche Carrera, and Joan Sutherland singing Casta Diva, they fall in love. There will be problems - her mother is a successful businesswoman, with whom he tries to close a big contract, but she does not like him at all in the beginning, but in the end, they realize their love.
This is a re-write of a tale I started in 2016, and re-wrote it in 2021, breaking into 11 Chapters. It was generally well evaluated, with ratings between 7.5 and 8.00.
I re-read it recently and discovered flaws in the story: occasional lack of consistency and missing small parts (breaking into separate chapters was a bad idea), and small grammatical errors. Sometimes I had to stop and try to remember how the story developed. So, once more I re-wrote, re-edited, re-checked, and in general, improved the readability of the story. I also joined the chapters back into one long narrative.
It shows a tale about love, of personal relationships getting close and some fading away, of business challenges and successes, and of people deeply in love. It has sex (after all, this is a site for erotic stories), but the sex is only a basic ingredient of a much richer story, of people falling deeper and deeper in love. It might be too sugary for some, but I like love stories with a happy endings.
I hope that you enjoy reading it as I enjoyed writing it. Read the first chapters, and if you enjoy them, finish the tale and give me feedback. If you don’t like it, let me know and I promise to reflect on your commentaries.
