has been uploaded and will post later today. Work got crazy this week, so I missed my usual every-fourth-day posting. I think next week will be calm, so should be able to find some extensive writing time to get back ahead. However, the only reason that will be true is the piss-poor cloud forecast for the eclipse on the 8th. I was hoping to see both the eclipse and the Devil Comet, but I don't have time to travel as far as the few bits of projected clear or clear-ish skies in the path of totality. Bummer.
The next chapters of both are uploaded. The Civia story will post tonight and Beth will post in the morning. Hopefully.
I've fixed a bunch of problems, inserted some unfortunately missing text, and added some bits to make for more clarity. I've changed nothing substantive, but readers may want to give it another go. It's only a bit more than 300 words longer. :-)
I've just uploaded Chapter 242 and it will post on March 22.
As for the future, working in the field in my field is frequently satisfying, nearly as frequently exhausting, and occasionally surprising. My situation since mid-February fits the first and last to a tee, and the second somewhat. Now, I've gotten a reprieve. I thought I'd be going back to that project and have another exhausting month or so, but the boss just yesterday switched me to a different project and someone else will have to earn a pile of OT. I'll probably have a lot of free time when I head back into the field mid-week next week, so I should be able to find plenty of writing time to get ahead again on _Beth_.
On a final note, the end of Beth approaches. I haven't quite figured out which will be the last date in Beth's diary, but it will be in late August 2018, after the state tournament. Of course, with postings only every fourth day, the last chapter won't post until well after northern-hemisphere fall 2024 or later. I'm still pondering a follow-on sequel that would probably combine _Beth_ and _A Tall Young Girl_ in a different format. However, I still haven't come up with a solid ending of that story, and won't begin writing it if I don't come up with one. We'll see.
Thanks, readers, for sticking with my incredibly long "little story."
