More on Pups-R-Us

The response from this story has amazed me. There was a lot more positive response than I expected. I figured that I would be lucky to get many good votes, and, to my surprise, I got an amazing number of 10s. However, I have also received more votes of 1, 2, and 3 than I normally see, so it was obvious that not everybody was happy.

I do wonder how many of those low votes were made because of the story itself and how many were cast from just the concept of the story. This story does have only about 50% of the number of downloads that I am used to, so maybe that was where a lot of the low votes went. Oh, well, I did have fun writing the story, and some people apparently liked it, so I really don't have room for complaint. Maybe I will write another one like it sometime.

Problem in posting chapter

I have no idea why my latest chapter of "Pups-R-Us" has not been posted. I submitted it last night before midnight with the proper section marked that I wanted it to show up as posted today. As of 7:30 PM, it was still sitting in the queue untouched, so I canceled that submission and resubmitted it at that time.

I hope it gets posted this time, and I am sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused my readers.

This is the title of the next story that I plan to post. I am commenting now because the limitations put on the length of the blurb about a new story don't leave me room for an explanation.

The story is a complete departure from anything that I have written before because it is a story about bestiality. Specifically, it is about women and dogs and sex. To me, this is a pure masturbation theme because there is no way for the women to become pregnant. In no place within the story does a woman fuck anything but a dog. In fact, the only men in the story are purely peripheral, and, as my wife says, this is a story about feminists.

The story is moderately long for me, 14 chapters, and I wonder how many will hang in until the end. I plan to allow voting on this story so that I can get some idea of how well readers like this kind of story.

Also, I will probably get complaints that I ended the story abruptly and not properly, but my wife advised me to stop where I did instead of dragging out the story unnecessarily. I'll let my readers decide that.

In essence, this story is an experiment to see what kind of reception it gets. If it is popular, I will write more; otherwise, this will end my work on this type of story. I wanted to write a story where nothing but good things happen to the protagonists instead of the stories I usually write where there is a lot of conflict.

I guess that I should say that I started this story to break a monumental case of writer's block, and it worked!

Bounty Hunters

This is a note I posted in the Storiesonline forum. Maybe this is also a place where it should be posted.

I have a thing about stories about bounty hunters in the Wild West. Lately, I have gotten several emails in which the writers say that they will stop reading my stories because I glorify bounty hunters. I know I do, but I find that negative attitude amazing.

Back in the days of the Wild West, there was a paucity of lawmen. With the exception of Texas, no state had an overall law enforcement group. Yes, I know, the Rangers fell on hard times and were accused of all kinds of nefarious deeds, and some of the accusations were true. Nevertheless, all a murderer or thief had to do was to scoot to a new town or, at most, to a new county, and his bad deeds were behind him. Marshals of towns had no authority beyond the town's city limits, and sheriffs were political appointees responsible for only one county. Cross the county line and you were safe.

The Federal Marshals had no general authority to arrest anybody, despite what we saw on Gunsmoke. Marshal Dillon regularly exceeded his authority whenever he shot a bad man. So, who were you going to depend on to keep the peace and track down the bad guys? The bounty hunters were the only ones who could do the job legally, and they did it in most cases.

Not only do people not realize this, they object to the truth being told. After all, Jesse James was a folk hero despite the number of people he and his gang murdered. Oh, well, I will still write about bounty hunters as heroes and to hell with those who want to glorify the bad guys.

Dropping the other shoe:

There are two items that I would like to report on.

The first one is that I have finished my adventure with cataract surgery, and all I can say on that subject is that I wish that I had had it done much sooner. As it turns out, I still do need glasses, but I can see so much clearer now that I am still having trouble believing it!

The second item is that I am just out of the hospital following a bout with double-pneumonia. I spent 28 days in the hospital, and they told me that I would probably need at least two more months to recover completely.

I have a hiatus hernia, and that caused me to aspirate liquid from my stomach into both lungs. It appears that I am very lucky because the attack could have been fatal! The word is: if you have a hiatus hernia, don't ignore it the way I did.

Anyway, I am very weak, and I am not sure how much writing I can do for a while. As I am sure you know by now, I do love to write, so I will be pressing hard to get back to my stories. I do have a couple of stories finished, and I will be posting them as I can. However, I am not sure what kind of schedule I will be following in posting the stories. I may be somewhat erratic, but I will try to stick to a reasonable schedule.
