Man, that was some Rabbit Hole

Hooray!!! Unless I managed to screw up again, I found a way to access my computer long enough to copy the story onto a thumb-drive. I have loaded Chapter 2 into the system, and, hopefully, I can get back on schedule to upload the rest of the chapters when they are due.

Computer problems

My computer video board went belly up, and that computer will not work until I get a new board. I have one ordered, but it will be a week before it is delivered. I'll post the late chapters as soon as I can. Right now, I am using my wife's computer, but the story is not on her hard drive, nor is it on a thumb drive.

Yes, I have learned my lesson, and will make sure that this doesn't happen again. (I hope!)

Advice, please.

I have a problem that won't go away. Essentially, it is a question of how much sex to put into a story. I realize that this is a site for sex stories, so I have bowed to that by putting something about sex in my more recent stories. However, I have been chided for both putting in too much sex and for not putting in enough sex. My question is how much sex is the right amount of sex to put into a story which is primarily an adventure story and not a sex story.

I tend to write some sort or another of adventure story, and I need advice on how much sex to include. Please advise me on what you, as readers, want along those lines.

Thank you.

That is the title of the next story I plan to post on SOL. It is a time-travel story set in the very old West. There are no six-shooters or rifles. Rather, it is the story of how a college student manages to survive and make his life better, as well as that of his friends. What would you do if you were plopped down in front of some very hostile Indians who were only interested in seeing what your insides looked like? Luckily, our hero was able to survive those first 15 or so minutes. Could you do as well?

A Lesson Learned?

This is a comment I recently posted in the SOL Forum, but it occurs to me that it might get a wider audience if I put it in my blog. Here it is:

I guess that I just learned a lesson from my last story. It was a Western that ended with a minor down-beat result for the main character instead of my usual up-beat ending. My scores have tumbled since I posted what I considered a reasonable resolution for the protagonist. He was wounded by a Comanche arrow and no longer able to get around without pain; therefore, he was going to have to give up being an Indian fighter.

This was just too much, apparently, for my readers, and they have expressed their dismay with votes in the 7s, instead of the 9s and 10s that the story had been earning. At least, I hope that was the reason for the fall in score from what I had been getting.

Even though I was looking for a little more realism in the story, I guess that I will have to give up on that and always go for an up-beat ending if I can't throw in a happy ending.

On second thought, I wonder how long I can stick to this resolution!?
