I have uploaded the full second edition of Quarantine Chronicles:Dan in all formats on my site (VeryWellAged.com).
While the story does not change from what was intended in the first edition, this edition cleans up errors in details and fixes dates that had lead to continuity errors.
There were areas in first version where what should have been one speaker was left to look as if there were two or more speakers. This edition also fixes problems in the HTML code that were not seen in the other formats. This is because the HTML version is created in an after-the-fact manner, taking the original material and massaging it to be usable as a webpage. While some parts of this process are fairly simple, the hyperlinks and the creating of the 'texting' portions are pretty code intensive.
While I suspect that my site is now pretty dead except for a very small number of you and most of you have decided to give up on this novel, I repost this novel of the site anyway. The sad truth is that with the demise of the original ASSTR, there is no 'new audience" readily drawn to discover an author's work.
Yes, I know you are reading this on SOL, but my work, due to the laws of Canada, where this site resides, do not allow my work to reside here. Further, the format my work is presented in, and is essential to the novels, is not accommodated here.
It further occurs to me that those who insist on using reader mode, trying to experience the work as if it were presented here, find my works impossible as they must be read as I have presented them. Reader mode makes the works essentially unintelligible.
Is there a desire for audiobook versions of my novels and short stories on verywellaged.com? They would be posted on that site, not this one.
It seems I can create them, for about $150/yr by using a service that will allow me to create up to 400K words of text to speech a month.
That would allow to convert maybe five novels in the first month alone (once I get the hang of it which might take a month).
Theoretically I can pull that amount out of what remains of the contribution bitcoin account at that site. But, is there any real interest in this?
The more who give me a response the better. I am sure there are one or two who might say yes, but how many of you would really take advantage of it? If you would not, please say that!
I am relieved to announce that the third and last of the Quarantine Chronicles novels has been posted on my website, verywellaged.com.
The novel has been posted in these formats:
HTML
PDF
ePub
AWZ3
mobi
The last of my Quarantine Chronicles stories will be posted, probably, in March on my website VeryWellAged.com,
It has been sent to my editor for his touch, rooting out the ungrammatical and the errant commas.
Once again, I truly wish I could post it here. However, the story both violates this site's rules (which are required by Canadian Law) and format issues.
For what it is worth, I wish this site's webmaster/owner only the best. He has my deepest respect. This site is important.
Normally, there is a small but steady number of downloads on my stories here. I come by regularly just to see if there is any mail I need to answer, as I haven't posted anything new here for years (an issue I have explained in earlier blog posts). But now the downloads quadrupled or quintupled or more.
Yes, I know that ASSTR is dead, but I had moved off of that platform a couple of years ago, just leaving a set of html files there that redirect to my own website, verywellaged.com.
But in the last couple of days readership here has increased dramatically and more readers have added me to their libraries. At the same time, I am not seeing as much traffic to my own website. It is all very confusing.
