This is September 10th and in five days I will release my next novel, Quarantine Chronicles: Lee, on my website, VeryWellAged.com. The link to it will be found at the very bottom of the primary index, as oldest stories are listed first and the newest at the end. To those, who have been writing me, bemoaning the loss of ASSTR, I only wish to note that I left that site years ago. To those who wish I was posting here, I can only, regretfully, say, it is not possible, due to two issues: content and format. My content is not allowed here and the format here does not support my work.
I know it has been a long time. Sometimes I get blocked for a long time. But I just finished the first draft of Quarantine Chronicles: Lee
I have a first re-read proof to do and an audio proof to do, but then it will be ready for an expert's proof/edit.
It is well over seventy thousand words now and possibly longer after my to initial edits. This one is darker than previous works.
I expect it to be posted on my own website in September or October. It contains elements that make posting it here impossible.
While the works here are reasonably close to the early works as displayed on my website, there are differences. The only exception to that is the last complete story I posted here, Retirement.
It was in working with story when I was advised to change the content or I could not post here any more. As the first few chapters had already been posted here, I hacked up an ending and that was the end of my real work here (*).
The complete and true version of Retirement was initially posed on the ASSTR site and is now on my site www.verywellaged.com and that is only place where the true version sits. I regret having a bastardized version here.
(*) The prologue The Disciples was to spur other writers to offer subsequent chapters. No one took up the offer/opportunity and that piece needs to be removed.
I gather that because of another author, Puppy, is posting chapters of a story that was inspired by my early works, I am seeing a steady increase of followers. I find that flattering.
If you want to see where my work has taken me, there are more than double the number of my works and more that four times as much content of my new works on my own site, www.verywellaged.com as I no longer post here due to restrictions on the type of content now allowed on this site.
I check on the activity here out of basic curiosity. There's nothing new here and there hasn't been in eight year. All the stories here have more up-to-date versions on my own website, searchable via my name VeryWellAged.
It is nice to see the interest from those reading my earlier versions of my earlier works posted on SOL, but frustrating as each has been updated and corrected on my site.
So I am ambivalent about the activity here.
