I believe I mentioned this previously. My family is about to move. The state is buying land for a new bypass and they're going to take a bit over half our property which will also take part of the house. So, they have to help us find and move into another house. Fortunately, we already know what house we want to move into, we just need their approval.
Anyway, complications aside, they're coming out this week to talk to us about how much money they're going to offer. If everything goes smoothly, we could be moved in the next couple of weeks.
For the story, I am currently working on Chapter 38. The outline only suggests 5 more after that to complete the whole thing! I would post more of the chapters I've already completed but all of them work together to wrap up many of the stories various plots. If I'm steadfast, I may be able to write up drafts for all the chapters before the move. That way, I'll only need to refine them and post everything soon after.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
No, the title is not in reference to football.
For the last month or so I've been struggling with a crux in the story. I saw five different potential paths for it to take because of one small problem. I tried following each path to see where it would lead, but none of them panned out. Everything went in directions I wasn't ready for - that the story wasn't ready for.
Earlier today, I decided to start over with the original path I had written. And all the "fruitless" writing I had done sudden gave me a seed. I found the answer. The path is set, and the story continues.
I'm not ready to post any new chapters just yet, so I beg everyone's patience. I want to complete the "day" and then post. Trust me, it will be worth the wait.
For those who thought they might have to wait another year for more chapters, you'll be happy to know that I've completed the outline for the rest of the story and have already finished three new chapters -- at least the first drafts are complete. I figure if I hammer out all the remaining chapters, it'll then only be a matter of filling out details here and there or cleaning up important points before posting. :D
I've submitted chapters 24 thru 30 for Orphan Magus. Comments are welcome as usual.
I received the following note and thought it was such a good question the answer should be shared.
In looking at the breaks between submissions of your previous works, I have noticed small breaks where you submitted 1-5 chapters at one time or a large break, from several weeks to months. When do you expect to make continuing submissions of Orphan Magus, Chapter 24 and on.
I cannot say exactly when my next submission will be this time due to a number of external issues out of my control. However, the regular reason typically has to do with the story itself or a specific character.
In Orphan Magus I'm looking at Olivia Rooney and trying to figure out her deep dark secrets. When I worked on the outline I knew she would be there but more of a background character than an active one. I've created this situation for her and now I'm trying to figure out not only why she is in this problem but how it will change/affect the rest of the story. Sometimes it's easy, but this one is complex and affects different characters in different ways.
Due to writing stories in first person and "hearing" my characters talk to me, I run into issues when writing sex scenes. The biggest issue is... Okay maybe not the biggest but certainly the most recurring is my reaction to the situation. I have to take care of myself but that leads to the loss of desire to write - especially sex scenes. And I'm working on the three sex scenes that WILL be in the story.
So, once I have these sex scenes finished and workout the issues with Olivia Rooney, I will be back on track and posting chapters again. Barring any issues that I cannot control.
Thank you for reading,
TD
