As a writer...
I've never been published. But that probably has to do with having never submitted anything to be published. I've never had my name printed on paper, like magazines or compilations. There. That narrows that down.
I've written six novel length stories and posted those online. Now I'm hoping to get something published, to take what skill, talent, and amateurish ambition I have further.
Experience that gives me any right to be a writer...
Well... I don't know. At least, thinking in terms of a resume, I don't. The only real world experience I have that could contribute is from Gaming. Not computer games either. I'm talking table-top, role-playing. Playing parts of NPCs, making up towns, lands, adventures, and everything that goes into them. Even playing the other side, the characters that try to solve the mysteries my friends have made up, to catch the bad guys, to outwit monsters that could kill my character without much effort. Now, that kind of experience, I have lots of.

I like fantasy, sci-fi, and especially modern settings with something strange involved. Stephen King comes to mind because he does that a lot. Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. The Sword of Truth series. The Dresden Files. Even Harry Potter.
Dislikes...
I haven't read much that I don't like. Honestly, if it's held my attention long enough to reach the end of the book, then it has done what the writer intended.
