Okay. Good and Bad News.
Holy Hell, they certainly build these freakin' HP laptops to make them unbelievably difficult to open and get to the damn HD!
But success!
And then I hooked it into the original machine and... YES!!!!!
Okay, so I got the files for Mayhem in a Pill and I will start up on those later tonight and then I can send it off to the editors and hopefully get the next chapter out to ya and then I can start procrastinating all over again.
Oh, also I was even able to save the porn and pirated movies. So umm, woo hoo!
I use two laptops. I've talked about the table I use everyday but I didn't talk about the two laptops. I write on one and backup on the other. I guess I am being punished for drinking water rather then my normal Shiner.
Yes, I spilled the glass of water onto the laptop with the non-backed up version of chapter 26 of Mayhem in a Pill. Each chapter is normally 12-15 pages in OpenOffice. I was on page 8 and the last bit of the chapter was ready to go just needed the conversations written. In other words I lost Chapter 26 when the glass spilled. The laptop won't turn back on. Just black. I was able to remove the battery then place it upside down on a dry towel and I dried up whatever liquid I could find. The HD was not wet in the slightest so I am going to leave them out overnight and hope for the best tomorrow afternoon when I have some more time for writing.
I even used a hair dryer to blow into the laptop and make sure everything is dried. Hopefully the liquid did not fall into the HD and the insides just needed to dry out. But if worse comes to worse, I'll have to restart writing the Chapter from memory because the in depth outline was also on that computer.
Ugh. Let's hope it is better tomorrow.
Edit: Ah, crap, I was just reminded about the porn! Oh for the love of everything holy, don't forget about the porn!!!
SOL is changing its feedback system. As of June 3rd, 2017 the new feedback system will go into effect.
The new system is an internal messaging system. Your feedback messages to me and other authors will be available on-site. The replies I send back will be available to you on-site.
This means we will all need to access the SOL website to read the internal messages.
The Webmaster will be providing details of the new system.
For those of you who wish to contact me directly by email, my email address is [email protected]. I will respond via email.
The idea seems fun and I guess we will call for the removal of Laz's head or we will be kissing his feet. I have a feeling we may need to go heavy on the lip balm.
But I'll be sharpening my axe just in case.
P.S. I know I am late on the next chapter but I am working on it. I will give this hint though... read up on the adventure's of Fat Tim. That way you will have an idea of where we are in his story. I know I had to.
The next chapter of Mayhem in a Pill is right now going through a final reading. When I get it back, I will do my final check and then post it to SOL.
I actually skipped an entire month. I'd like to blame the wait on my muse running away or fucking off to Tahiti. But I can't do that. I also cannot blame it on some sort of block on new ideas. But the real reason you had to wait so long for a new chapter is simple. I'm lazy.
If I wasn't so lazy, I would have written a hell of a lot more that what I have so far. And by now I believe I could be doing this for real... as in being paid a better than living wage to write stories about someone reliving their past with the some sort of key to change your life. Hopefully in a positive way, of course.
So. I guess that is something I need to work on. Or maybe not. I can always procrastinate about it tomorrow. Or not. I am lazy.
New chapter coming soon!
I just realized I spent the entire night re-reading Refusenik's Island Mine for the umpteenth time. It is still as much fun as the first time I read it.
Now I remember reading about some folks wanting a second story to follow up on what happens next. I can understand the feeling of wanting more from the story. Does the AI Chief follow Waylon's orders and visit Arman in Tahiti and bond with the man. Or does he just watch over the family and protect him, like his mother believed the island did for her. Will newly promoted Admiral Arnold ever have an opportunity to speak with Waylon while he is on Mars? Or maybe even does Waylon ever speak with humans again?
Many questions. But do you really want a sequel for a nearly perfect story. It is a question I end up contemplating every time I finish re-reading the story. I still don't really have an answer, but then again, I smile and realize I can be happy with just the one story.
Thanks Refusenik. From the bottom of my heart, I can only give one compliment. I wish I had written this story.
I wanted to send this to the writer exclusively but I'll bet he got tired of all the emails from people begging him for a new story! So, I'll just put it here and maybe... one day... he'll read it.
