I've Written Myself Into A Corner, Now What?

Posted at

Hello, fellow readers and writers,

I hope you’re all enjoying Club Velvet—I know I’ve absolutely loved writing it. The ideas came so quickly, it felt like it poured out of me faster than I could get it down on paper. I'm currently deep into Book 3 of the series. Books One and Two are finished, and I'm posting Book One twice a week, which I hope is just the right pace for everyone following along.

Now, here’s where I need your help.

In Book 3, my characters—Frank and the rest of the crew—are working to open a brand-new Club Velvet location. The timeline for the grand opening is about 18 months, from tearing down the old space to construction, decorating, and finally staffing the new club.

Eighteen months is a long time in story terms. As both a writer and a reader, I’m unsure how to handle this time gap. I don’t want to just skip ahead and gloss over something this important—this new club is a major turning point for the series. But at the same time, I don’t want to drag the story down by focusing too much on the construction process either.

So here’s my question to you:

How would you handle this kind of time delay in your own writing—or as a reader, what would you enjoy seeing?

Any advice, ideas, or personal experiences would be incredibly appreciated. I’m no professional, just a passionate storyteller doing my best, and support from this community means a lot.

Thank you for reading,
Kylas_DK

Thank you to the reader who spotted an error I made in my 'Intimate Intersection' story. The corrected chapter is in the system and ready to be posted to correct the error I made. This marks the end of book 1. Book 2 is in the works, but I am finding it difficult to find time to write. Work has picked up and I am tired at the end of the day. Hopefully I finish book 2 sometime next year. Thanks again for reading my words.

Two Chapters Today

I am so sorry that I didn't post this morning. My PC has been having memory troubles and crashes at the worst times. So, as a reward to my readers (I hope I have a few), I am posting two chapters today. The first chapter today is a short one. The second chapter is much longer and take us back to Major Jakes and Captain Amelia's home world where we see what happened after Major Jake left and never came back. I did enjoy writing this story, and I hope that some of you are enjoying reading it. Take care and I'll see you all next Monday for another exciting chapter in the saga known as 'The Intimate Intersection.'

Good evening people of the internet,

I was away on vacation last week and lost track of time. When I returned home yesterday, I had intended to post the chapter for this morning, but you know life. It got in the way and I didn't get a chance until tonight. I am posting two chapters and here is where the story starts to pick up steam. Enjoy.
