I'm passing a kidney stone 🤕 among the symptoms I'm having is not quite nausea, but my stomach saying don't eat! I take a bite, choke it down then have to wait an hour to do it again.

A short request

It seems to me that perhaps I could use the services of someone who can help me get organized, in essence an editor. Specifically I'd like to get back to work on Its a Helluva Job. However I feel like I've lost track of story and it keeps growing like kudzu I find the new growth unseemly and toss it out. But that means the story is essentially in permanent hiatus. Not a status I am comfortable with, yet one I seem unable to change.
So with that in mind I'm asking if there's anyone who would be interested in helping me out.

An update of sorts...

The job I'm doing (have been doing) for the past 90 days (or fairly close); is soul crushingly dull. It requires all of my attention and none of my imagination. The other job I've essayed at this place is incredibly exciting, but not in a particularly good way. That one is stacking stuff with a forklift. While I am a fairly experienced lift operator I've not had a lot of experience stacking where my load higher than about 50 inches to the bottom of the second tier. Also all of my experience has been handling items that were no wider than the body of the truck. Thus exciting in a not terribly good way.
I'm honestly torn, I'd like to learn to handle loads that are eight and ten feet wide. But at the same time they rightfully encourage great care... Then there's the fact that I'm still insulted by the evil elf of DC proclaiming that everyone must wear masks with no thought to their working conditions. So I've failed interviews to move from this job, and given my extreme care when handling loads that I'm setting higher than the rops/fops cage on the lift I really expect that I won't become an actual employee of the company rather than a temporary employee. Oh and there's the whole eight or ten foot wide aspect to consider... When I first attempted the stack just above the rops/fops cage I spent an hour trying and failing to get the load square with the stack...
Oh and finally even a better banding machine seems to hate me. As I've had several attempts to band a load fail after I moved them from the place where we do the load prep, luckily none while over the rops/fops cage yet.
So I believe my fears for my future are well founded.

Reading queue....

Don't take these as requests. There are some books I hope to get a chance to read in the next year or so... They are: Where's My Flying Car? (I'm not sure of the author, and it's hard to transfer to here when I find it) The Unified Theory of Scare Stories, Patrick Moore, Fossil Future, Alex Epstein, Apocalypse Never, Michael Schellenberger. Let me get my computer set up before you point me to places to borrow e-copies.

Shopping for a computer

I've been holding off on picking up a new(er) computer until I'd made some other decisions in my life. Now, for better or worse I've decided to hold off on moving for at least a year. With that in mind I'm back to shopping at least semi-seriously for a computer.

My main concern is that it be fairly durable and relatively inexpensive, which two categories have very limited intersection.
