Here's a little story that has been roiling around in my mind for a while. A friend, Nathaniel, helped me write this. Let me know what you think. Oh, and don't forget to vote. It will make him happy.
Well, I posted chapter 32 last night, well early morning and it got up there this morning. I figured it was about time Claire took the podium and told us about herself and her family in a little more detail. After all, the title of the story is Claire if you get my drift. Jim's been doing most of the talking until now.
I hope you all like the turn toward reconciliation with her father. Things are not all bad between them as we are finding out.
Enjoy,
AJ.
Well, Chapter 31 got posted and it seems that I can't see some of the errors until the story or chapter is posted. So as far as I can see, I got one word in there wrong. Poll instead of POOL. I'd have caught it if poll wasn't a valid word too.
It's a very common typo I make as sometimes my fingers lag a little so things don't come out the way I want and I only see the word I wanted in the first place when I go back and edit my text. My mind does that to me.
Also, I had the same thing happen with the missing quotation marks. I edited that line in the text and missed adding in the quotes where they were needed.
So anyway, I think that is all the errors in that chapter and I've already sent off a correction.
The real interesting part is one reader has already graded me with a "8" in technical for just those three typos. That's the "L" for an "O" and two missing quote marks.
To me that is just a little severe. "8" In a writing class that at the least would be an "A" downgraded to an "A-" not to something like a "B-"
Sometimes it would be nice if people who don't give good scores would at least OWN up to their score and EXPLAIN just why they gave the score they did.
Of course, I'm still wondering about the person that gave me a "4" for PLOT a while ago. This is not a Thesis I'm writing but a story here where Authors don't get anything for their efforts, except a head shaking situation like I just mentioned.
AJ.
Well, I just finished Chapter 31 and sent it off to SOL for review and posting. It might not be available until tomorrow as I don't think they will be doing anymore tonight. But, you can never tell.
Anyway, there the van-load is, on their way to Carmel, when they get stuck by a Red Light! Think about it.
As always, I hope you enjoy the chapter and it's possible ups and downs with a little humor thrown in.
AJ.
Chapter 30 is up and running.
I don't know if War Stories interest anyone but there are quite a lot of elements of truth in this chapter. A lot of this actually happened, pretty much as recanted. I've just changed the story slightly and of course the names to protect ... well, I don't remember their original names so what the heck, I don't have to protect anyone. ;-)
So anyway, there will be a few more things mentioned, War Storyish, and well, they for the most part are not made up. Just thought some readers might like to know that.
AJ.
