I've posted this review on Wisdom: Intro, but actually, I intend to review the whole Wisdom Series, at least as far as part six, Wisdom: Antithesis, which is as far as the series goes at the time of writing. If you're looking for stroke content, you can click away now.
ExtrusionUK has taken the 'Alien Intervention' plot, and twisted it into a unique series of stories. Some of them seem to be asides to the main thrust of the plot, the rescue of Planet Earth from the ravages of her inhabitants, but that plot is always acknowledged.
The basic premise may be unique, and twisted, but it forms the base of an engrossing group of stories that any hardcore Sci-Fi fan will immediately take to heart, and add to their library. ExtrusionUK has an incredible imagination, and has used it to make each one of the Wisdom Series stories unique, vaguely disturbing, and interesting enough to hold the readers imagination.
Technically, ExtrusionUK lets himself down a little, the stories have more than enough typos to be noticeable, though luckily they are free from the common homonyms so prevalent on SoL, sometimes to the point of illiteracy. His characters are well rounded, and believable, the dialogue is well constructed, although the use of different type faces ('normal', italic, and Monotype) for different characters, takes some getting used to. Having said that, once the reader becomes accustomed to the system it works very well.
The open ended way the Wisdom Series is constructed, there is the potential for an unlimited number of stories to be added to it, involving the same characters, but attached to the main plot rather than a part of it, clustered round it like a literary bunch of grapes. Whether that will ever come to pass is something only ExtrusionUK can tell us. I just hope he writes more stories in the series soon!
To sum up then, the Wisdom Series is a joyful romp through the twisted mind of the author. You should definitely bookmark it, if only to keep track of additions. Personally, I'll read the stories again and again. Great stuff!
Read, and enjoy!
