I'll start out by saying I really did enjoy this story, for the most part. There were a number of technical deficiencies which detracted from that enjoyment, otherwise I would've rated it even higher.

For those looking for a good MilSF story with a romance weaved throughout, I can't think of a better place to start, even with those aforementioned flaws. If you're looking for a simple enjoyable read which is flawlessly edited, look elsewhere; but if a little confusion isn't too much distraction for you, give this piece a read.
