Once upon a time, back in the days when men were men and ladies were damn glad of it, a Dutch import named Rip van Winkle got caught by the local Goblins, drank their magic brew, and slept for nigh on twenty years.
Now some people didn't believe it happened, and then, lo and behold, and other such silly sayings, the Shan hit the Fit, and Rip's grandson hit the moonshine trail and ended up snotlockered to the eyeballs and also slept for the obligatory twenty years. Only this time things were different, because he had wonderful loving beautiful sexy daughters to take care of him, in more ways than one could swing an obstetrician on the end of a broomstick! The result was an ever increasing family of kind and considerate daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughters so that by the time he suddenly woke up his progeny were so numerous that no one seemed to notice when they still got pregnant, over and over again.
This is one of Bob Lubrican's rare novels, and is worth the hard drive space to download it to read again and again.
So when you realize the convoluted plot, and the Happy Ever After ending of this delightful loving incestuous tale, are the brain child of one of SOL's excellent Authors, you will agree with me that it is worth the tens across the board I feel it earned.
In "Prick Van Winkle", we get the story of poor Bob Winkle, who fell asleep one day, and didn't wake up until 50 years later. He finds himself with a whole bunch of daughters, grandkids, and great grandkids.
The sex in this story was at times hot, and at times not. The sex scenes where Bob is asleep did nothing for me, since Bob wasn't into it, for obvious reasons. When Bob was awake, though... The sex scenes were hot.
The plot itself is a wonderful twist on the Rip Van Winkle story, even going so far as to make Rip be one of Bob's ancestors. Once Bob wakes up, many of the things he ends up doing could best be described as a comedy of errors. It's funny, without being cartoonish.
Technically, the story was quite strong, except for chapter 26. In that chapter, punctuation, quotation, and capitalization rules took a major vacation. I suspect an unedited copy ended up getting posted, but that one chapter was hard to read.
Overall, I enjoyed this story quite a bit. In fact, the plot was better than the sex, and hot sex is something you can always count on with BOB's stories. The story moves quickly through his 50 years of sleeping, getting you to the meatier part of the tale.
It may not be the most entertaining BOB story, and it may not be the hottest, but it is certainly a very worthy tale. All in all, a very good read!
This is a feel good story that puts me in the mind of one of those old black and white movies where everyone sticks together through thick and thin, have a few slap-stick nutty events take place and in the end live happily ever after.
My time was well spent with the characters in Bob's story as the events of their lives unfolded; and I'm looking forward to seeing what else comes from this author who is one of the best story tellers I know.
