Nate Hart is sixteen growing up in a family with dad Richard Hart a former refinery worker (laid off), mom, a newly ordained Methodist minister, the Rev. Joyce Hart, and eleven-year-old Katherine. They are moving from the big city to Tenbrook for the minister position at the methodist church. Nate is in the eleventh grade of high school and a developing photographer of artistic skill in black and white.
The story takes you through his junior year as he develops his passion.
aroslav has written an incredible depiction of a youth growing up in the nineteen sixties. The first of the series by a talented author.

First off I am a fan of this author, I have loved "Living Next Door to Heaven" and more recently the "Team Manager" Series.
This story is the beginning of a new series called "Photo Finish". In the series you follow the MC Nate Hart and his adventures with photography and growing up as a teen in the late 60's. Many of us readers were not born yet or just barely so it is a small history lesson. The author tends to write his MC's to have more maturity then most of his peers and Nate is in that category.
While exploring his craft (photography) he works very hard and is given some advantages along the way. We also get to go along with him as he makes and maintains a number of relationships some romantic. It is a slow build to get to full sex so, those that are a fan of this author will recognize the pace. This fist book lays the groundwork for what I am sure will be another classic series that many will enjoy for years to come.

Grammar: 10/10
This story is very well written. I did not notice any errors of grammar, spelling, punctuation or the like.
Style: 9/10
The author is very talented at describing the artistic process. He has written about painters a number of times, and this time it’s a photographer. I have no clue if the technical details are correct but it felt like I was getting realistic insight into the world of photography.
The sex scenes are also well done.
Plot development / pacing: 8/10
I enjoyed the introductory phase a lot. Getting to know the characters and the setting was enjoyable.
Around 2/3 of the way through the story things felt a bit ‘crowded’, for lack of a better term.
And I’m not sure if there was a proper climax of the storytelling kind. One of the plotlines was resolved but that was more like a sideplot. I don’t want to go into too much detail here because of spoilers, but I expect that the sequel will connect pretty seamlessly where volume 1 left off.
Characters: 10/10
I really enjoyed how the author showed the individuality of the characters. Even side characters that got very little screen time felt like real people.
Overall: 9/10
I really enjoyed this story, I’m looking forward to the sequel, and I will likely reread this at some point.
