A Bountiful Library of Fascinating Reads for Inquiring Minds from hammered890
Some of the stories I have come across that I enjoyed greatly! A mixture of long and short stories, separated by authors and genres. Lmk if you have suggestions!
A hugeeeee read, but well worth it. Ever dreamed of life amoung the stars? Well this one is for you. Gets better as it goes along, and the imagery and imagination at work is simply a delight. A work in progress by Tefler.
This is one of my favorite Do-over stories. The story is long, but stays engaging and wraps in plenty of real life people and scenarios, to almost make you wish it did happen. The separate epilogue helps bring the story to a close.
An in depth look at a small town boy and the life he leads, this one grabs and brings you along for the ride. Heavy on military and the Iraq war, this gives an researched look at written combat. The next 2 stories are well done too.
Lazlo Zalezac is perhaps my favorite author, just such in depth, engaging, and amazing stories. This is the shorter, first story of Magus, and he makes it so funny and a great read
The second story of Magus and Titus, and one of the funniest stories on this site. Literally had me falling out of my seat at times, I cannot speak highly enough about it!
A story of rebuilding and becoming a new man, of changing your life for the better. A great read for those stuck, it carries strong messages and definitely inspires hope.
When one must change the world, they change it in a big way. Some parts are eh but most of it is very good problem solving that one man goes through, to change the world for the better
One of the best Jade Force stories, but all are great. A different earth, with some similarities, but a new force emerges to fight. You probably should read the series in order
Part of The Shack, read the others in the stories before this one, but this is one of the best. The Wendy. Such a cool story of origin, and what a character. Great read
Definitely one of the top stories in the series, the characters are just so awesome. Needles is amazing, so cool to see where this story goes in the future
The Anthony Carter universe is long, but well thought out and has plenty of plot lines. This first story is heavy on the naval aspect of the 1800s, but the story is well done.
Later in the Carter Universe, this moves from the early 1800s to the western US of the mid 1800s, in the cowboy and gold rush era. Well researched, this is an amazing addition to the universe, introducing new characters farther down the timeline.
Part 2 of the lucky charm, this brings the story back to the Victorian Era in Britain, with interesting characters and quite a few plot lines, all coming together to wrap into the Carter Universe.
A victim of his mob family troubles, a kid who wants to be a scientist pushes to move beyond his family. Along the way, working through the troubles with his significant other will have you rooting for them by the end.
When the son of a struggling single parent learns about his father, and vise versa, his life changes. Written well, this story shows what can happen when going from nothing to everything, and how one kept his wits about him.
Sequel to the outsider, this story exceeds it in every way. Long, but it looks hard at professional baseball, and the life of Brock Miller. One of Jay’s interconnected novels, this story leads to an exciting finish!
Another long but good one by Jay, this looks at a rich college kid who isn’t an asshole, and how he deals with class, girls, business, and baseball. A great combination, if I do say so myself. Part of Jay’s Interconnected storylines.
I originally held off from reading it, but man oh man. It is a good one. Some parts are not as good but the characters and storyline are very appealing. Give it a try, I say. Part of Jay’s interconnected.
A crime-fighting kick ass story, of a depressed cop who moves to the beach. Shorter, but gives a read into the minds of LEOs and what they might wish for. Part of Jay’s Interconnected stories.
A good look at the music industry, this story shows that musicians aren’t perfect, and might be getting f’ed over. Or maybe not. Anyway, this story delves into the trials and tribulations of a working romantic relationship. Part of Jay’s Interconnected
Awesome space story. With empires and countries battling it out in the 2800s, a few come to be independent with technological marvels and a drive to explore. Great story.
Another space story, this looks at a man stuck in war. An interesting synopsis into fighting an alien species, The Private takes you to where humans might be in the future. Incomplete, but still a story worth reading nonetheless.
A cool story about what might happen when a scientist discovers new, COOL technology. Delves into what might happen to us as the world changes and we reach for the stars.
The EoP series is very interesting, a take on someone who becomes a being with basically unlimited power. I enjoyed how it is set in almost current time, with good characters and enjoyable stories.
This entire series is very entertaining, and an interesting concept. For one who knows it all, life certainly comes with challenges to be faced. All parts are excellent reads.
Fantastic series. They hook you in, and you can’t stop. Amazing story, action, and characters, I am waiting for the fourth in the series. Awesome read.
A great first story to the series of Io, and how she helps an injured SEAL find purpose and a family. The rest of the uni is an awesome continuance to this story as well
Cool do over, this time with an artificial intelligence from the future helping. An American Indian story, this long series of books paints a compelling picture of what can be changed
Cosimo universe is cool Roman-like society on a new planet, with plenty of intrigue and awesome backstory. Looking forward to the continuation of the series
A scientific Do-Over, when a scientist learns fusion and is sent back, he makes the world a better place. The characters are enjoyable and the story gets better and better, as the plot twists and turns. One of the best on the site.
Lazlo’s do-over, of a thinker named Benny and a doer named Tim, both sent back. They use what they have and know to find their happiness, and to nudge the world. a good story.
Another Do-over, for the musically inclined. Back in the 80s, a cool emerging geek high schooler turned rock and roller. A great read, but the ending slightly frustrated me.
Another cool do-over, on fineS as well. Back to Cold War Europe, a boy living in England starts finding differences about his new life, in the past. Very cool, looking forward to the sequel.
A look at jumping forward in time, and what might have happened. This story shows a teenagers skipping of his high school years, and how he adapts to change himself for the better
Football! American Football! One mans struggles in life to take football to the highest level, while dealing with troubles that are thrown at him. Heavy on American football knowledge, but fun to read even if that’s not your cup of tea.
More Football! A man seeks to find family as he succeeds in the sport. Less football-y, more on his struggles with people and relationships as a high-tier athlete.
Another football story, just from the anti-jock POV. Really makes you think about the American high school and dramas surrounding it all. Not finished, but author said it would continue. I hope so.
College bound Kyle Martin heads to college, to be the best in football. A great, super long story about his college career, his games, and his and friends lives. Great addition to life in paradise series.
The first part of Scott’s story, this story shows a orphaned young man grow up, hidden from the evils of the world deep in the south of Texas. A captivating story that makes you root for Scott to succeed.
The second part, Scott is back and headed to college. A shorter synopsis of his life as an adult, and how he strives to succeed in the relationships around him.
The brollyverse is cool! Imagine having a genie that’s yours for the taking, but with limits. That you can workaround. Well, one can dream. Or read this story.
Another one from the brollyverse, taken in a different direction. More genie fun to read about, and wish it was you. Not finished, but a good story to read so far.
The most complete Brollyverse, this one makes you believe in the good of man, when genie becomes human. Incorporating a cool music list that I suggest you listen to, it meshes with the story well.
Another western, of a young boy who grows up governed by the eagles in his life. His travels in the west of the 1800s spin an entertaining tale of growth.
Al capone’s mate is sent away, escaping the law by heading west. There, he comes into farming and family, building a business in the new age of the 1900s.
A super engaging fantasy story, about portals that have appeared in the world, and one mans effort to become the best in fighting the monsters within. Super interesting, great concept and execution in the story. Waiting on book 2!
This one starts out rough, and has it’s moments. Mental illness and suicide are big issues in society, but Lockwood does a good job of being aware and keeping the story engaging. Def one of the story’s that makes you think.
A feel good story, of finding true love. College age, someone who’s clueless with someone who’s pushing for a relationship, this is def a story that will make you happy by the end.
Fallout 4 was a cool game to play, and this is an incredible story of it, brought to life through Tina Wilson. Rebuilding and bringing together a country in the fallout world, excellent story.
A cool fantasy, of witches and shifters, and one veteran stuck In the middle. Well written, the characters will have you rooting for them within a chapter
Pt 2, an amazing follow up. More crazy creatures, who try to mess with Lachlan Quinn, to their detriment. Great writing and world building, you feel immersed in it
