A Blues Story
Julie was one of a dying breed of women. A woman who swore she would give her virginity only to her husband. She caught a lot of flack for that, growing up, but her virginity was intact when she arrived in the Bahamas for her honeymoon. That's when things started going terribly wrong. Despite an wacky series of fantastic events, Julie somehow manages, even though she doesn't know it, to do exactly what she swore she would do.

This novel preceeds "Audry", and describes the formation of the Steele family. Covering several years, it is much more than a "coming of age" romp. Bobby Washington got hit by a drunk driver while he was riding his bike and all the doctors thought he was a gonner. He lived, but he was in a coma for three years, and he had epilepsy. When he finally woke up his mom's dreams seemed to have come true. But there were still issues. He had a fifteen-year-old mind in an eighteen body. An Asian physical therapist came to live with them and, together, they tried to bring Bobby back to a normal life.

When my brother and I found an old trunk in the attic of Grandma's house, he was interested in the WW II relics our grandfather brought back from the war. I was interested in the diary Grandpa's sister had written. It detailed things she did with her twin before he, too, went off to war. They weren't the kinds of things that were acceptable, then or now. But they excited me, and then they excited my brother. Somehow, what had happened between siblings 70 some odd years ago happened again.
