Tom felt a bus pass him and then heard it hit the brakes just as he neared the stop. Without much thought, he stepped into the bus, after the rear doors, whooshed open beside him. He stopped long enough to flash his 'Go-Card' at the device to pay for his trip. The bloody thing wouldn't register. 'Great, just bloody great,' he fumed. The card was out of cash. [Note: Reading the book Delta, will give the history of some of the characters but this book isn't a continuation of that series.]
A Tiger Team Story Following nearly being Court-martialed because of the results of their mission to Parthas, Tiger Team and the other members of First Mobile Headquarters Team are scheduled for a number of schools while the Partners have their young. There are several incidents while Tiger Team attends school and a few surprises afterwards before they receive their next assignment, which is to stop the guerrilla activity on Owen's World. The situation there turns out to be very different from what they were told.
A Linkage Story The Waiter's Tale sheds light on the life of the Chevalier and introduces characters pivotal to the story arc(!). The story contains a lot of travel and fornication, although much of the latter is noises off so to speak. There are also gobbets of history, music, and film talk. Threading through the tale is what could be considered a coming of age story. Judge for yourselves, although the first two stories in the Linkage series (both very short) will need to be read to make sense of this story.
