A story in the Tech and State Universe
A character-driven romance: Martin, a 48-year-old widower and Irene, 34 and single are assigned to work together on an academic research project. Their relationship, initially frosty but professional, warms to the point that Irene suggests they become friends-with-benefits, to enjoy no-strings sex. The arrangement works well for both, although Martin's feelings toward her begin to deepen. Then, an old flame of hers enters the picture, and Martin faces the prospect of losing her.
When Astrid Wagner took the job at the one hour photo store, she though it would be a nice enough way to spend some free time and make a little extra money. It never occured to her what else might develop.
After failing to defend a village from a band of roving Orcs, Bevan finds himself the only survivor of the battle. Taken prisoner by their capricious leader for reasons unknown to him, his fate becomes unclear, as her intentions become ever more confusing.

A Waikiki PI Story
Our intrepid undercover PI gets a slippery assignment trying to hold on to a man who has supposedly killed the daughter-in-law of a wealthy Tacoma scion. Sexy hi-jinx ensue with gorgeous, dangerous women. Best to read the earlier stories in the series/universe, but I have described returning characters to make it easier.
Mark bumps into Kelly, a girl he went to high school with. And while he has done well for himself, Kelly has had it a lot harder. Mark sees that she is pregnant and struggling, so he asks her to come to dinner with him. It was supposed to be just a couple of friends having dinner, but old feelings stir once again...
