Nathan Everett's Collected Short Stories and Essays. These are mostly (but not entirely) old stories that are too short to be a novel. See my blog for more detail. There is no single theme or subject for the stories and essays. By and large, they contain little or no sexual content.
A man seems to spring to life, naked and with virtually no memory. He is standing in the middle of a road in a magical country, Isbardia, full of monsters, both human and demonic. He gets lucky and saves a woman from a potential rapist, and the woman turns out to become the love of his life. They find a map with a mysterious "X" on it, and this is the story of their discovery of what that mark means. 8 chapters, ~35,000 words.
This is a story inspired by the tales of Barsoom by E R Burroughs. This time, the hero is transported to a world very much like his own Earth with a few minor exceptions. He is from the Wild West and Horurie is nearly as advanced as our Earth of the 21st Century. The main difference is that the society is feudal. Under the right circumstances, he could be king! This is his adventure in trying to foil a coup d'etat. / (Reviews)

This is a romantic/forgiveness story. Amy is 51 and frumpy and finds out that her husband is having an affair. She goes shopping and by chance meets a young man who finds her attractive. After spending the afternoon in his arms she learns the meaning of true beauty and love.
A 42 year old woman visits her older brother as he is recovering from cancer. They reestablish the close relationship they had as teen-agers and she helps him overcome his impotence.
Nathan is in his mid-twenties and is a free spirit who enjoys 80's pop music and assuming Goth dress. One day on a light rail train he witnesses a woman and her littler girl become separated. He steps in to help, only to be mistaken for a child abductor. This sets in motion a series of events in which Nathan finds himself more and more deeply involved with Iris, the child's single mother. Can a non-conforming twenty-something find happiness in the company of a middle-aged woman?
