This is the story of my life. I am Mutnodjmet, and when this tale begins, I am fifteen years old, on the very day of my wedding. I am to marry Pharaoh himself: my father. The year is 1350 BC, in the ancient city of Luxor, Egypt.
15-year-old besties have to run from their dipshit, pervert dads, in a desperate hurry, before the worst happens. Then they're on their own, unprepared, encountering bad guys and good, in the forests of West Virginia. Can they survive with just determination, each other, and their singular values? And what if they should get rescued by a so-perfect, respectable family?
The customs of all cultures seem strange and for little purpose when viewed from outside their context. Ceremonies and rites of passage matter tremendously to those inside, but to the rest of us, we just starch our heads. This is a short story of one such custom as seen through the eyes of the principal involved. Sure we can wonder why, but in this case I say, Why not?
If you have read my other stuff here, you know what to expect; This is more of the same. I’ll leave it at that, as the journey is as much fun as the destination.
