Coming of Age Stories

Alexander Nathaniel Wilson Hollister was thirteen years old, and his friends called him Alex. Every Saturday, Alex went to the mall with Matt and Alan to play video games. They took a break and went to the food court for lunch and girl-watching. Returning to the arcade, Alex was tackled by a man running through the mall. He was driven into a planter and knocked unconscious. Alex woke up in the hospital and found out he had been in a medically induced coma for a week.

This is a coming of age story. Both of kids and of an organization. Basically, a bunch of school kids form a social organization that becomes a community service organization. They become very important to their town and to the local police. The kids depend a lot on kung fu, especially stick fighting, as they help to rid the schools of the worst of the bullies. There is some rape, but I do not classify that as sex in the normal sense of the word. Five chapters.

Fourteen year old footballer, Rosie, loves scoring goals, has a crush on the school's star player and spends her evenings pissing on herself. What if those worlds collide?

Around 1972, I found the Young Republicans (YR), the local Washington DC chapter and national activities there, to have lots of opportunities for sex and linking up with smart people. The latter tended to be in various wonk groups that still worked with one another, such as moderate Ripon Society and Bill Buckley's conservative Young Americans for Freedom We can be good like this again.
