The current year is 2090, and the world has changed. Lance Shaffer is 91 years old. Tom Lawson, Lance’s friend and fellow scientist, was two years younger than him. Tom worked in the time-travel group, and they met in the basement, away from people, listening devices, and cameras, twice a week. They discussed their projects' successes and failures. Lance worked on regeneration drugs and developed a reincarnation process, and he tried it combined with the time machine
