This is a story about falling in love for the first time. It is also a story about learning that love isn't always as straight forward as we'd like it to be.
Where the inspiration for story came from I have no idea. I do know it made me very sad to write, and even I was surprised at how it ends. Basically, a small town girl comes to grips with her sexuality, but also summons the courage to take responsibility for her own life and happiness.
When the chain on Roger's bike slipped Mom helped him. When the baseball hit in the same place a few years later Mom helped him. It all seemed innocent if a bit odd but then things changed. The family grew but not the way most families grow.
