Mike is hosting an exchange student from the Czech Republic named Tomas. They have gotten to know each other fairly well during the school year, and Mike feels like Tomas is the younger brother he never had. He decides to take Tomas to San Francisco to celebrate his 18th birthday and tells him he can invite a friend.
Instead of the expected male friend, Tomas wants to invite two female exchange students: Jana, also from the Czech Republic, and Julya from Russia. What could possibly go wrong?
When the group gets to their hotel rooms, Mike finds that the students have jumbled the room assignments a bit. You guessed it...Tomas is rooming with Julya, leaving Mike with Jana. Tomas and Julya believe they are in love with one another and are using this excursion to consummate their relationship. Mike realizes that if he pitches a fit and calls off the weekend, the two lovebirds will just find another time and place to get together, so he reluctantly goes along.
Still upset, Mike has a bit of a meltdown and nearly breaks Jana's heart. Jana admits she has feelings for him and was not there merely to keep him occupied while Tomas and Julya get it on. Thinking back, Mike recognizes he too has feelings for Jana which have developed over the time he has known her. He remembers that she had found ways to spend time with him, staying close and looking at him with he now realizes was love in her eyes.
After a nice dinner out, the couples return to the hotel and their first night together. The author proceeds to paint a very interesting portrait of each couple's first encounter, where one pair's night of bliss isn't really all that blissful.
Rod O'Steele does a masterful job of describing the differences between true love and inexperienced hormonal lust without being preachy, and the final outcome will warm any romantic's heart (including mine).
I give this story very high marks because in addition to the normal erotic activities, there is a very real lesson to be learned. I can remember no technical errors worth mentioning, and it definitely appeals to me because it stays in my permanent collection.
