No, not that kind of toy. I received a couple of email asking why I was talking so much about Marines, including Vietnam era marines, as opposed to the other branches of service. This chapter pretty much spells out why - it's called, setting things up for the reveal. And then continuing, because sometimes good deeds get rewarded in other ways.

Yeah, there's consequences for some things.

Hope you're all doing fine. I'm still working my modified shifts for now. I miss my speedway that was I-35 - there was so much traffic yesterday everyone driving could only do 70, instead of 80 or more through town. Welcome to reopening the state, and realizing that you can't live in fear.

Uploading Chapter 14 Thursday evening. I think the next few chapters are some of my favorite ones as far as character development.

That, and a few things that Cal does, too, during these chapters. Hope you enjoy. I've tried to reply to everyone that's emailed me. I appreciate the comments from those of you who are prior service. There's a bit more dust in the air later, just be careful.

I finally have someone a bit better at finding errors in my stories than ... um ... my son. (He's been my first reader, and general editor for quite some time.)

The problem right now is, there will still be errors creep in, as well as creative differences between the editor and what I intend to write. I'm writing dialogue between people with distinctly different views on things - which means they're not all going to have perfect grammar.

Net result is that I've uploaded replacements for Chapters 4 - 12 tonight. Same story, so if you've already downloaded, don't worry about it. Thanks to Soronel, many of the errors that crept in have been corrected. (And some of them are still there, because I don't think they're errors.) I've also been getting help from CoulPert as well.

Next regular chapter will be uploaded Friday morning.

I wrote the thing, and some of the scenes in this chapter still bring tears to my eyes.

This is a coming of age story. Phrasing it politely, there's some SERIOUS coming of age in this chapter. I hope you enjoy it, and you've tissues handy.
