Chapter 29 - Colleges and snakes

Before you complain about the treatment of the lawyer (other than the sharks won't eat him and snakes don't bite him due to professional courtesy) - there's backstory that comes up in Book Two to explain it. Remember, I set up the whole child molesting thing 20 chapters BEFORE I revealed it.

Other than that, the cliffhanger at the end of this chapter is relatively mild.

I'm writing Chapter 37 of Book Two. After Friday mornings post of Chapter 30, I plan to June and July to finish writing Book Two. There won't be 'time skips' in Book Two, but there will be times when a paragraph may cover an entire week or more, simply because there's not much going on that needs to be covered in quite as much detail. (Something along the line of ... classes in February went pretty much as we all expected.)

Supposed to be in the mid-90's this week. Yay... :)

Chapter 28 and new shoes

With all of their tracking technology - how the heck does Amazon lose a package? I didn't see anything in the news about a big truck crash between Dallas and Oklahoma City. Now, I hope they still have some of my size in stock - I have shorter feet, but very wide. I've had an orthopedic surgeon ask me how is it I don't fall over. (I'm 6'2", but I wear a 9 1/2 EEE.)

Oh, and Chapter 28 is being uploaded this morning. I was too pooped from work yesterday to remember to put it into the queue. I know there's an automatic system, but the two times I've tried to use it, either I screwed up or it did, and my posts didn't go up at all.

For what it's worth, there's a LOT of stuff happens in this chapter. For those of you who read this and have no idea who Delos David Harriman is ... your science fiction education is lacking. :)

Second quarter, not the second half ... uploaded a correction already, but I doubt it'll post before morning.

Uploading Chapter 27 tonight

Only three more to go after this one, for Book One.

No worries about dust in this one. Unless you were a fan of the 1984 Kansas City Chiefs.

And this one ends in not much of a cliffhanger. Have a great Friday and Saturday - I'll be working 11 hours a day both of those days. I do appreciate all the emails and comments that you're sending me and I'm trying to respond to all of them.

Chapter 26 - more eye dust and power calculations

I'm going to go ahead and send this up before I go to bed tonight (Monday). It may not post until Tuesday, but either way ... if you thought Chapter 25 brought the dust out, this one is even more appropriate for Memorial Day.

Regarding power ... I'm using the rule of thumb that 1 MW generated is enough for 600 - 700 homes. That's close enough for story purposes. The minor detail that Cal's turbines generate full power in as little as 5 mph wind - and there's ALWAYS at least a 5 mph wind in Oklahoma and Kansas - is the only real stretch on current technology that I've done.
