Real life intrudes. I put in fourteen hundred road miles last week. I;m kicking off projects, doing myriad things to keep the wheels of industry turning.

In the midst of that, I have Dorable on my shoulder, feeding me stories. I'm trying to get a chapter a week out on each of three active stories. I have able help from my editor and from my friend who's been coming up with some great vignettes, some for the Community, some of them for Haley.

I strive to keep writing, one, because I want to keep entertaining, and two, I want to see what happens next.

Eight years ago I posted the first of my stories on line. No, it wasn't here. I didn't find this place for a bit longer.

I did start posting here, though, with the first stories of what later coalesced into the Universe. It's a comfortable place for me to write from. I have some emotional attachment to the characters.

Occasionally, though, I wish to diverge. The new story, Carlie, is not part of the Smart Girls Universe because I wanted to try something a little different. Yes, you'll recognize a lot of features that I enjoy writing about, because after all, as much as I appreciate you dear readers, ultimately I write the stories I want to read myself.

I have a few other stories that have been sitting on the back burner as well, none of them part of the Universe, either, and I may roll some of them out in the future.

In the meantime, let's see what happens with Carlie.

I may have trouble walking fast and I may not be able to bed over like I used to do, but my mind still works pretty good. I'm having fun letting my imagination run loose with the stories I'm writing.

I'm not completely alone in this, either. My editor and a good bunch of friends are constantly pumping encouragement and ideas to me, and a lot of those ideas find themselves in the stories. That's great, too.

And it's time to vote in the Clitorides awards. I'm doing pretty good, it seems so far, and if you haven't done so, go vote on your favorite stories. If those votes happen to be fore my stories, that's great. If it's for others, that's great, too. Everybody benefits from the encouragement.

Heaven knows where it's going this year, because I certainly don't.

In a day or two, we'll pop in a new run with Haley and Bill, and then a totally new story, just for something different.

I just checked the stats for Top 50 Stories, by Weekly Downloads and the stories you folks like to read, Sunny, Community and Bill, Haley and Deena are at positions 1,2, & 4, respectively.

I still write the stories I want to read. Over the years I have to give a lot of thanks to my editor and to a good friend who keeps dumping great ideas into my lap. He's not the only one that's given me an idea that shows up in the stories, either.

Anyway, almost the end of the year. I've had fun with the writing of them. The scores say that you've had fun reading. And that's a great way for the year to end for me.
