First: Frostfyre is finally back with a new story Targets of Opportunity http://storiesonline.net/s/18027/targets-of-opportunity. I like it, and I think you Swarm Cycle fans will as well. He's working on more, as are other Swarm authors, but we are currently handicapped by our list server being messed up. Meaning a bunch of us can't use it to talk with each other - swap ideas, edit, proof - that stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Kinda sucks when some of us can post to the list but others can't use it to answer.
Stories Updates: Inkie continues to be my highest rated story. I thought I'd have a new Inkie story written by now - Muntiny on the Bunte Kuh - and it is progressing, but I got diverted and am working on another Inkie story in parallel - Caleb - with an idea on how humanity's relationship with the Confederacy AIs will play out after the Sa'arm incursion is stopped/controlled.
Even though I haven't posted a new story for a while, weekly downloads continue at a pace between 650 and 1,000 per week. Siobhan is fast approaching my first Swarm Story as my most downloaded story, and while not ranked near my highest scores, she is only nine votes away from receiving the most votes of all my stories.
So, if you are wondering if voting is worth it, I do take note. The fact that you voted, along with comments and feedback, tend to steer me towards which stories need sequels...
As ever, I appreciate you!
Folks, one of the nice things about the Clitorides is seeing stories that others like that you might, for one reason or another, miss. I like to go through and read as many as I can because - well just because.
A while ago, I stumbled upon a story titled A Bigger Bra for Ashley by Axolotl whose thing is big breasts. Now, in my mind, this isn't a big tit story, it is simply a four alarm funny riot.
I'm not soliciting votes for the story, but you'll do yourself a favor by reading it. http://storiesonline.net/s/70091/a-bigger-bra-for-ashley And if you do like it, well then, vote.
Yesterday, I returned from the Caribbean. The destruction from the two hurricanes was horrific. It will be a long time before the islands are back to normal. Yet, the folks I met were upbeat and thankful for all the help they received from their various national governments: French, Dutch, US, English, etc.
Tourism is slowly returning, and I would encourage anyone who is able and considering it, to take a cruise. On one island, not a single hotel had been able to reopen. There is still plenty to see and do that is not depressing. I got some really impressive pictures of pilot whales and pods of dolphins off St Lucia.
Thank you for your feedback on Monica. She started posting just under a month ago and you folks have downloaded at a rate averaging more than a thousand a day. And, you've increased downloading my other stories as well.
Watching the scores bounce up and down chapter-by-chapter gave me a better feel for what you folks like. It is very instructive and helpful to us authors. And don't forget to check on those Clitorides - the authors nominated deserve your vote PLUS you may find a good story that you missed.
The final chapter is in the queue and should appear tomorrow.
I would very much appreciate feedback and voting one way or another. Remember that you can revise a previous vote anyway you wish.
Thank you for reading.
So, I'm out of the hellish Chicago area cold and snow. It was 3 degrees F when I left yesterday. We're in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I thought some of you might be interested in an update.
There is some return to normal - in the city. I can't speak for anywhere else, though we could see the devastation to the countryside as we flew over to land. Power is off for streetlights and traffic lights, but the houses around our hotel seem to have power. Still lots of broken windows, smashed fences, and the like. Lots of closed businesses - buildings totally wrecked. Haven't been towards the beaches yet.
If you are so inclined, I'm sure any help you give through Red Cross or other agencies will be welcome and NEEDED.
The next to last chapter of Monica is in the queue for tomorrow. There is yet another betrayal, some baby making, and travel.
