One of the notes responding to my blog expressed concern that if he voted early on, that was his one shot. Actually, you can change your vote up or down after each chapter posts. That's why voting as you read helps me...
The sequel to Siobhan is finally finished to my and my editor's satisfaction. Chapter One: The Sounds Of Silence is in the queue.
I created a new universe The Human Nexus to hold the, so far, two stories. The moderator will need to move this story into the universe as the utility didn't work when I submitted it.
For those of you who download stories to read off-line, you'll want to thank my editor, Steve, who helped me clean errors from Siobhan. The story's content is unchanged, except it is cleaner - unless I messed up when I submitted corrections...
The Higher Order Multiples is fnished and is ten chapters long. I plan to post every other day until it is complete.
Please give me feedback - as you read. Getting this one 'right' took a lot of thought as I received feedback from my editors. Your votes and feedback are very useful, so both voting and comments are turned on. I find it strange that Siobhan is my 2nd most downloaded story, and has the 2nd most votes, but has a score that is 9th out of my 12 stories.
Enjoy!
You folks amaze me. Less than twelve hours since my last blog and the daily downloads of Siobhan have doubled. More over night than the rest of the week altogether. Since uploaded, she has the second most total downloads of all my stories - though she is not the highest rated - and consistently is the most downloaded each week.
I promised a while back to give sequel priority to the story you folks indicated by reading and feedback. I hope I match your expectations.
I still have two Swarm stories in the works - a good bit is left before completion, at least I think so. I like them and where they are going...
You know, there are three ways you can influence what we authors write - at least me anyway. First is polite emails with comments and suggestions. It is really easy to email us, and some of you know I've used your suggestions. Second is your votes. The votes, up or down let me know you are paying attention. The third is just reading and/or saving to your library.
It's an ego thing I guess. I write because I like writing, but you folks are my reward system.
After all my promises and teasing, I can finally report that the sequel to Siobhan is now with my editors and proofreaders. Anne N. Mouse suggested a better title - The Higher Order Multiples.
I'm guessing it will take me a week to correct all the typos that they find. Thanks for your patience and encouragement.
Only two have reported back, but they like the story, so I hope you will as well.
Either my heads up on the sequel to Siobhan, or my rant about OSU has resulted in an uptick in downloads of several stories. It appears that unexpected visitors will delay my getting Siobhan's sequel to my editors.
So, to whet your appetite (a little hubris, don't ya think?) here is the close-to-ready prologue for the sequel. Interestingly, in the copy paste process, I noted four changes that I wanted to make:
The Triplets
Prologue
Twins are rare, triplets more so. Rose and Violet were identical twins - odds about one in two hundred fifty births. Their older sister, Scarlett, was their 'spare'. Together, the three were one-in-a-thousand triplets. Once the girls were old enough to encounter and understand taunts, they responded that they were 'Higher Order Multiples', and their tormentors were 'lower order singles'. Until they reached puberty, the battles were epic, and even boys several years older learned that 'you better not mess with the Trips.'
When puberty arrived, bringing curves and tits - especially tits - and long, shapely legs, all complemented with angelic faces and wavy blond hair… well, a whole magnitude of additional 'don't mess with the Trips!' arrived, too. By the time the hormones began shaping the exterior, these young ladies, hellions really, had skipped four grades and were finishing high school. If an overly persistent male was pressing a sister, one or both of the remaining Trips was sure to arrive, often with a posse. It was uncanny - like they were mind readers.
With AP courses under their belts, all three entered college with enough credits to place well into their sophomore years. Born in Athens, Georgia, the girls were moved to Columbia, Missouri when both their parents obtained teaching positions there. When disaster struck, they were well into their college studies - engineering at Mizzou for Rose and Violet and creative writing at Stephens College for Scarlett.
Among the many legends among Mizzou students, one involved Francis Quadrangle's six columns. Supposedly, they stood for the six virgins who had graduated from the university. The Trips didn't want more added to the stand, so they had vowed to fix that status before the end of their senior year. Looked like that goal wasn't going to be met. There had been no boy or man who seemed right, and now it appeared to be too late
