I did just polish up the Christmas Day chapter of Band Geek Diary so I could post it. Then I looked and discovered that I had posted that chapter a month ago. *facepalm
Meh. I'm going to post this version as an update since I expanded some parts of it. I think some of you may like it better.
I'm going through the latest chapter now to be sure everything is clear and legible. It should be posted sometime today.
Thank you all for your patience as I stumble through this story. My flighty little muse has me way ahead on things that won't happen until many chapters later but has been less cooperative on the things that actually happen next in the story. She's also quite adept at getting me to chase her down the path of completely unrelated stories. The good news in that is that a few of the later chapters are actually almost ready, as are a couple of new stories. The not-so-good news is that the next couple of weeks in the timeline of Band Geek Diary are going to be a struggle.
Let me also take the time to remind you that the Band Parents Universe is public. If you have a story you're writing that involves band students, band teachers or parents of band members, please add it to the universe.
I recently enabled public commenting on all of my completed stories, so if there's something you do or don't like about one, you can state it for the world to read.
The Merle Haggard lyrics are appropriate because I've been slogging through John's entries in Band Geek Diary for the month of December since August of last year. Fear not, the end is in sight. The installment for Christmas is almost ready to post and then there is only some stuff to write up for December 28. In case you're trying to follow the calendar for the events in the story, they're based on the dates for the 2019-2020 school year. There's a chance I may get done by the time the story lines up with the calendar.
Thanks for hanging in there with me. Things in John's world will start to get fun and interesting starting in January (on his calendar).
We're now up to Chapter 14, covering the events of December 21 to December 23. 84,000 words in and nobody's lost their virginity. Yet.
A little note here: On the 23rd, John finds the video system hard drive in his dad's office. That's a reference to happenings in my story, "Band Parents." If you haven't read that one, I'd suggest it. Several events in this story relate back to things in both "Band Parents" and "Abby's Blackmail Attempt" (or its evil twin "Abby the Flute Girl") and may make more sense if you've read them.
Also, another reminder that the Band Parents universe is open to all if you'd like to submit a story of your own to the mix.
