So I've got the prologue finished. Just need to go ovver it once to edit it and change some things but I'd like a little feed back. So here is the unedited, raw writing of the prologue, it's about a page and a half in Word 365.
So, yeah. I’m dead. But before we get into that let’s back up a bit. My name was John Doe, yeah, I know what you are thinking but it really was my name. I was an IT professional in the United States, 95% of the time I worked from home, but that 5% I had to go into the office, either for the yearly mandatory company wide meeting or something so fucked up it required hands on and in person attention. When I wasn’t at work, I was a gamer, anime-fan, and lover to my wife, names aren’t important now.
One day on my way to the bus coming back from one of those times I had to be in the office I got struck and killed by a vehicle, I later learned the vehicle was named Truck-kun. A Japanese vehicle auto-pilot program that grew sentience not too long before I was killed. I mean we were overdue for Skynet to happen right? What do you mean by “I later learned”? Oh well I was told about it in my post life debrief.
Turns out our ‘souls’ as some put it is just energy that leaves the body when the body can’t sustain it any longer. When the body dies, the energy is returned to a grid of sorts and repackaged as someone else. I, however, got chosen for QC, Quality Control.
“Ok, Mr. Doe? Right this way.” A voice called and I just floated(?) to a room, I couldn’t feel or see, I just sensed.
“Wait. Where am I? What is this place?” I could only think.
“You are at the RIPQC headquarters.” The voice spoke again. “The Rest in Peace Quality Control. You’ve been chosen to conduct a survey of your previous life. This is a mandatory survey, your Guardian will be with you shortly” Just great. Not even in death can I escape the survey people.
“Welcome, John. I’m your Guardian, I’m just going to ask you a few questions about your life on…” I could feel papers flipping? “…oh… Earth… I’m so sorry to hear that. Ok, Question 1: on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the overall quality of your life and only your life what affected you personally?”
“Uhm… probably a 7.5? I had a nice work life balance…”
“Yeah yeah.” The voice interrupted. “Ok. Now second question: What would have improved your quality of life in your previous life, if any?”
I thought about it and I had always wanted magic, it was a shame that living on Earth lacked magic. “Having a sword and sorcery theme as well as the technology.” I answered.
“Interesting…” The voice spoke, it took a minute for the next question. “Would you like to be reborn in a ‘sword and sorcery’ style world? Or just go to your preferred afterlife? Note that you wouldn’t retain your past life experiences.”
I didn’t even think about that. “YES!” I blurted out to the voice.
“Are you sure?” The voice asked. “You won’t retain your memories, you’ll be a blank slate.”
“Positive.” I state.
“Alright, we’re preparing a world for you.” The voice said and then I felt a probe of some kind looking into what would be my memories of a fantasy world for my enjoyment. It lingered on the anime and manga I’ve watched and read, seeing what I enjoyed, what I didn’t and the like.
“The world has been made for you. Mid-level fantasy tech, a form of internet technology, a form of instant communications, high-level magic, high-level smithing, fantasy metals and flora and fauna. Anything you wish to add or make sure they are there?” The voice asked after listing off some of the info for the world.
“How about multiple guilds, like merchant, adventurer, etc.”
“Sounds like a good addition, we already had the standard Adventurers Guild” The voice admired. “Now that the world is done, good luck on your new life.” And with that I was plunged into darkness. What the voice didn’t know was that my memory didn’t get wiped and stayed intact.
Yes I meant to say new twice. I've got a problem. I'm itching to make a new story, but the drive to do it isn't there (thank you Depression for lack of motivation, Fibromyalgia for the finger pains and ADHD for the... ooo! Squirrel!). I'm plotting an Isekai story, instead of it being a person from Japan or the Asian area. It'll be a guy from the US, not sure if I'm going to drop him into a new body, or rebirth them yet. I had plans on another Isekai story but that is going into the trash bin (hence New new story), start fresh from the start and properly, if there is such a thing as proper story writing.
ANLoL Has made no head room since last update of my blog. The creative juices just aren't creating. So for now, I'm trying to be creative, but not forcing it.
Hey guys, I'm still here, I'm still alive. Thank you for the messages. I've got an idea for a story so I'm plotting that out, I'm gonna give it the good ol' college try (goddess I'm old). It's an isekai style story, MC gets taken out by Truck-Kun, he shouldn't have died and is reincarnated in a fantasy magic and swords world with OP skills. not sure yet if the women he collects on aventures will be all lovers, just one lover, or a huge polycule. It all depends on my brain power for this story.
As for A New Lease on Life, I'm still looking at it, writing a bit, right now I'm in a sex scene so I have to be in the right mindset to write it out. The next few chapters after the current one will be doing some expanding on the world, moving Paula and Danny's families in together in their multi-family home.
For myself, I've been on a Fallout 4 kick for the last two and a half months, before the Fallout season 2 show hype started to rise. It's been the same thing over and over again. wake up, feed cat, play fallout 4 and/or watch youtube mindlessly, pet cat when interrupted, go to bed, if it's wednesday it's a streamed DnD night on twitch (Streamers Username: Mivivime) then go to bed. Lately I've been watching manga and manhwa isekai recaps they usually take 90 minutes to 3+ hours to watch, which brings me to my own isekai story.
So I guess that's all for now, I have no dates for when/if the new story will premiere, hell even the current title might change it's so early in being written. Farewell for now, and it's half a month late, but Happy New Year ya'll.
I'm still at it. Slowly working on chapter 21. The progress is slow, my mind is slowly getting worse, no diagnosis. I wish I could activate my ADHD focus powers whenever I want so I could keep writing 8 hours in a day, right now it's only 8 minutes at a time. But slow and steady wins the race right?
Don't worry I'm still alive. I'm reviewing 'A New Lease on Life' making small edits here and there in previous chapters. With how bad my memory is I have to re-read my own story to remember what I wrote. Chapter 21 is slowly making progress, I look at it and it taunts me as it's where writers block hit me last year. But I will prevail and finish it and get to the next chapter and the next until I finish this short story turned book.
