As leaves swirled down around me, I kicked off NaNoWriMo with the rewrite of “Aiden Ascending,” the second book in The Ring Saga. Despite herding contractors and other things that popped up, I’ve completed just shy of 7k good words and three chapters. Now, to be clear, my intent is to complete 50k IAW NaNoWriMo rules before the end of the month. The story will most likely end up being longer, but that’s on me to complete in December. After which it’ll sit in the freezer until at least February, when I will process the rough into a second draft. Then comes another bout of freezer time before final edits c. May. All of which means you should see it in the Summer.
In the meantime, I will continue to release chapters of Kyle’s story, “A Fair Trade,” as they leave final edits. Behind the scenes, I’m focusing the rest of my efforts on final edits for two stories you should see in Spring.
And, as we draw to close with “Aiden and the Ring,” I’ve submitted Chapter 35 for posting. Gina and Aiden seal their bond. The final chapter, Chapter 36, is now available on Subscribestar.
Once more, those of you buying my works on Bookapy are genuine heroes. Thank you all. And for those kind enough to support my efforts on Subscribestar, you know how much the muses love you. In addition, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for your kind words of encouragement.
While I continue working on “Aiden Ascending,” the second book in The Ring Saga, I’ve received permission to release chapters of a commissioned story. Yes, it’s serialized. Yes, it has an end. No, I haven’t reached it yet. When it’s concluded, I will offer the complete work in Bookapy. However, it will give you something to peruse as I continue chugging away in the yards.
As such, I hope you enjoy Kyle and his adventures in “A Fair Trade.” I’m submitting the first chapter for posting.
I’ve submitted Chapter 34 of “Aiden and The Ring” for posting. Aiden and Kendra continue to bond. Chapter 35, the penultimate one, is now available on Subscribestar.
Again, my deepest gratitude to both my subscribers and those supporters who’ve purchased my works on Bookapy. Your contributions fuel the muses, this site, and future tales. You rock.
I can announce that in preparation for writing the revised rough draft of “Aiden Ascending,” the second book in The Ring Saga, I’ve begun story analysis. Since its original version was based on the original “Aiden and The Ring,” there’s a lot to change.
On the other hand, the bones are still good. The new characters have depth. And the overall plot/character arc is workable. As such, word scribbling begins on 1 November, with the goal of completing its 50k word rough draft by the end of the month for NaNoWriMo. Easy. It’ll most likely go way over that.
Meanwhile, I’ve submitted Chapter 33 of “Aiden and The Ring” for posting. Aiden and Kendra. A new, and powerful, team? Chapter 34 is now available on Subscribestar.
Once more, to those of you who reached out, disappointed or not with the temporary demise of “The Immortal,” I do appreciate the feedback and share your frustration. And for my subscribers and supporters who’ve purchased my works on Bookapy, thank you ever so much. It means the world to me.
This past weekend, I spent a good deal of time digging deep into “The Immortal.” As I pored over the half a million (!) words, I concluded it’s not the tale you deserve. It was my first “story” and frankly, as much as I love Jim, it’s not good enough as written. As such, it is with great sadness that I’m going to end the current version. I shall endeavor to bring you a more comprehensive and tighter focused one in the future.
This new version will do a better job of integrating Jim’s backstory and the current supernatural world in which he lives. I’ve been bolting those latter pieces on while updating the chapters. However, that process was awkward and did you a disservice. It should’ve been baked in at the beginning. It wasn’t. For reasons I’ve explained in earlier blogposts.
Meanwhile, I’ve submitted Chapter 32 of “Aiden and The Ring” for posting. Aiden makes up with Kitten and takes Kendra away. Chapter 33 is now available on Subscribestar.
Thank you all for your support and understanding. This is the first of my babies I’ve had to kill, and is a hard lesson learned from over-extending when I began this crazy hobby.
I can hardly believe it’s been a whole year since I first posted “On the Highway” and watched the download numbers climb. “Hey! People are reading my stuff.” Feedback was positive, and I got to know some of you well. Since then, I’ve foisted several more stories on you while behind the scenes tweaking my processes to maintain a more sustainable flow of tales. Since that first big rush has emptied the coffers, I’m working on newer stuff at a more reserved pace.
What’s upcoming? Subscribers heard in August, but here’s the summary:
The rest of October, I’m finishing the second draft of “Not Yet” a standalone story. Then it’s on to NaNoWriMo in November. This year, I’ll be drafting another sci-fi tale, tentatively titled “Star Waif and the Grump.” After that’s in the freezer, I’ll rework the partial rough draft for “Aiden Ascending.” Aiden is by far my most popular character and story. Finishing out the year will be the final polish on “The Coach’s Wife,” so I can introduce Hiram early next year.
Meanwhile, the beat goes on. I’ve submitted Chapter 31 of “Aiden and The Ring” for posting. Kendra pleads for Gina’s intervention with Aiden. Aiden visits her office and plans are made. Chapter 32 is now available on Subscribestar.
While it’s not been as lucrative an endeavor as I’d wished, it’s never really been about the money. Writing continues to be incredibly fun and my thanks to every one of you for your support, feedback, and constructive criticism.
