I just submitted the first chapter of the next story in the Thomas Grey saga. Thomas Grey and His Friends follows Thomas Grey and The Year Without Summer and sees our hero 'on the beach' and on half-pay.
"With the year 1818 starting, Thomas expects better times for his family and lands. Yet, the year starts with a tragedy, and the following events have him meet boyhood friends but also encounter underhanded enemies. In the end, there are four weddings and a funeral, but there are also new adventures in the offing."
He reconnects with his boyhood friend Robert Bryce, but also with Alice Houghton, his make-believe fiancée. He has to thwart an underhanded plot against his person, but he can also enjoy time with Mirabel and his growing family.
The complete book is already available at Bookapy, along with Thomas Grey & The Hundred Days (with an additional chapter of his exploits of the French coast), Thomas Grey and The Year Without Summer (revised and reedited), and the next novella, Thomas Grey & The Smugglers. All four novellas can be purchased as a collection at a reduced price.
My sincere thanks to Old Rotorhead, my longtime editor, for cleaning up typos, the syntax and factual errors! As always, if you still detect typos or glitches, let me know, and I'll fix them in a timely manner.
The new, revised Chapters 16 - 18 are up. Enjoy!
https://storiesonline.net/s/65806/his-lucky-charm;
Chapters 19-21 will be released next Tuesday.
Chapters 13 - 15 are up. Since this is a revision of the original, 2010 story, the new chapters do not appear on the update list (anymore). Just mark Tuesday and Friday as update days or favourite the story to get alerts if new chapters have been posted.
Thanks for the feedback!
Sorry, I didn't think people would be confused. I am currently reposting one of my older stories, His Lucky Charm, under the new name English Jim and the Baltimore Rose. It's a repost after some major editing. The plot is 98% identical, but I corrected quite a few language details; e.g. no housekeeper in Victorian England would be addressed with the "Mrs" prefix, and no shopkeeper as "Mr.". This sounds more elitist now, but also more authentic. I also used the Finestories version as the basis for the revision, so once again, it's less adult and more mature.
I am posting 3 chapters at a time, twice weekly. The new story will comprise the entire storyline, including the time after the move to England, which means that His Lucky Charm 2 as a separate entity will soon disappear from the listings.
Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy the new style!
Dear Readers and Fellow Writers,
to all of you, my best wishes for peaceful, happy and healthy holidays and a hopefully less violent 2025!
The (almost) past year was a good one for me as a writer. Now in retirement, I can devote more time to writing fiction, and the feedback from the readers has been very satisfying and beyond anything I expected. My special thanks to those of you, who pointed out errors, typos and other glitches to me. I am not using AI yet beyond the occasional spelling check and some artwork, but the CI (crowd intelligence) of my readers is something on which I rely for the final polish of my stories. You have not disappointed me!
As a small thank you, an extra chapter of Young Thomas Grey will be available today.
Thank you!
Argon, a.k.a. Peter Argonis
