I know it's been a while since my last chapter posting. Part of the reason was due to not writer's block but writer's de ja vu. I felt like Seth was simply going around telling everyone the same thing over and over, hoping someone would help. So, I decided to take a break.
I still wanted to write, though. So, I dusted off an old story of mine that I had tried to get published a few years ago (Crushed Heart). Getting it published fell through because I was supposed to go through the story, looking for anything a reader might see and think WTH? I did. At least I worked on it up through chapter twelve (out of thirt-eight). I stopped because I only saw those issues spiraling out, making more issues, which would spiral out and make more issues, etc. As it was, I didn't believe that I would ever pick it up again. Boy, was I wrong.
About a month ago, I looked at again and realized that the problems weren't as bad as I believed. So, I set to work on it. Not only did I make all the changes that I had marked previously, but I also made changes that I hadn't thought of then.
Now, the story is complete and I'm hoping to contact someone about publishing. That is unless someone has a better suggestion. I've looked into self-publishing, but it seems to cost money too and I thought the idea of self-publishing was to not have to pay to publish. [shrugs]
If anyone has any suggestions, please shoot me an email.
In the mean time, I'll get back to work on Rogue Magus.
First, I want to thank everyone for their suggestions on how to gain access so I can post new chapters. I have learned how to use this phone (Android) to not only email files to my editors, but the same features allow me to post new chapters here too!
I haven't done so yet because I'm waiting to hear from one of my editors.
Currently, I am working on chapter 25 and have started planning for the next obstacle Seth will face. In the overall plan for the story, however, it seems that I'm roughly at the half-way point.
New chapters will hopefully be posted this weekend.
I've received a number of Replies to my last blog with different suggestions to help with my internet access problem. One suggestion was to check with the local library. I'll look into that again but the last time I went there, they had a policy restricting the use of any personal Media on their systems because they had previously ended up with viruses that way.
Another suggestion was in regards to using a phone to post chapters. This suggestion came from an anonymous reader. He suggested that I connect the phone to my computer and copy the files to the phone that way. And that was all the e-mail said. I already knew how to do that. What I need to know is how to select the files via the submission process of the site? Suggestions regarding this would be immensely valuable!
Good news: I now have a laptop with which I can post new chapters.
Bad news: the free WiFi that the local McDonald's offered here where I live is down and by no means a priority to the management. Currently, I'm stuck writing these blogs on a cell phone. I have yet to figure out how to post the files using it.
So, it would appear that I won't be able to finish posting Rogue Magus until sometime next year.
One other thing, since SOL has sent me notifications to stop asking for m0ney or d0nations, I will have to move over to Patreon.com for that kind of help. I know I'll continue to post stories here, but I'm not sure what the frequency of those posts will be.
Rogue Magus: I'm currently working on chapter 24. Comparing what I have versus what I had planned, there are already 8 more chapters than anticipated. Regardless of my internet status, I'll continue to do my best to keep my blog updated. Maybe, by the time I am able to post new chapters, I'll be close to or even finished with this story.
