One thing I'd been missing for some time as I am in the midst of what looks like a permanent move is a separate keyboard while using my lappy.
Why is that such an issue? 'Cause it seems that whomever designed lappies never considered the consequences of placing the mouse pad directly under the space bar... I touch type and having that thing there means that I consistently tend to drag my thumbs across it among other things.
Needless to say this impedes my writing at best. I still don't have power, and expect that to be at least another month away, so I have to find various places to sip on power while using the net.
With a full time job that is going to be very limited at best. Other than the above and that I'm not writing stories, just reporting on my current life, things are looking up more every day!
Right now I'm working (have been before now really) through a temp agency (though this one is new to me...) and they called me Thursday to take a drug test to go on a temp to hire position. When they first called me they were talking about starting midweek next week. Before I finished work on Thurs, they had called me back to come emergency test to work on Friday...
So I did that and went to work on Fri, The job isn't anything I haven't done before (except last time I did it I was significantly younger) so I had no doubt that I could accomplish the job, I might even have a strategy or two to make it less of a back breaker, but given it is pretty much a job in a saw mill there isn't much that won't be at least somewhat heavy work....
Still I got at least one good comment before I vacated Fri afternoon, and it was a member of the crew who probably has some say about who will stay.
So, all in all, Friday was a pretty decent day for me!
Maybe... I've got a position (as a temporary employee [with the possibility of being hired]) starting Friday. I'm even somewhat familiar with the shop as many moons ago I worked there... :) I don't know what will have changed and what will have stayed the same... Hopefully some of the more difficult jobs have been rethought and are easier that it was last time I worked there. Still will be areas I can't do... Physically not fast enough... But maybe they don't have those positions any more... Hopefully.
