I'd been taking too much aspirin (occasionally) as a stopgap sleep aide/pain relief. Everyone reacted negatively to my level of usage so... Here's what I've done... Daily (alternating) OTC ibuprofin (one tab)or naproxyn (one tab)if sleep is the desire, and it doesn't come soon then benedryl (one tab [25 mg I think]) this helps with any allergy symptoms I may experience as well... :)
On the writing front, still not much getting done. I would like to continue, or extend On Dog Creek and finish Its A Helluva Job neither is seeing much movement. I have two or more pieces featuring Cal/Calienté/Denae that may get finished too. I also have one more episode in the Heinlein Station (Swarm Cycle story) that is started but not near complete.
As long as I'm working hard labor, and dry/cold/dark camping to save money, don't expect too much in the way of additional writing from me however!

Pain management

One sad thing about the job I have currently is that it stresses my muscles quite a bit. That leaves me with a desire to manage the pain that I have as a result. I've been cautiously taking aspirin but am not sure that is the best NASID available for managing such pain. I'm up to over 1000mg of it at a dose, even if it is just once a day, and that worries me too. I take 3, 375 mg tabs a time in the evening, and I suspect that may be a bit too much... Yet what else shall I do? 4 hours of sleep then waking with cramping (actually pins and needles) in my hands is too much! I need more and better sleep, but am not getting it.

Run of the mill...

So recently I've been working a tough 'new' job. It isn't a job I've not done before, but I do get to do quite a few exciting (as in dangerous) things.
I'm working around saws... But I don't think that I'm nearly as dangerous at the job as someone who started today! I shan't say more, just that I nearly had a heart attack watching the way he reached across a saw!
Of course in a mill the most dangerous places are often not easy to identify at first... One of those is a machine called a hog. Now the first thing to know about the hog is that it eats boards for breakfast, thus you do not wish to have any part of yourself caught in it! 'Cause if you do so the result will be painting the hog scarlet! IOW you probably will die and they will give your family a hundred pounds of wood shavings to bury... those may even contain part of your remains. But the most likely thing to survive (mangled as well) is the toes of your steely (steel toed) boots... at least positively identifiable...!!!!!!

News of a sort

Sometimes when I'm tired, as I am today I have a hard time deciding what to write. To put it mildly, I just hurt too badly to think. I'm not saying the work is too hard, indeed I think that over all it is good for me to be walking, bending, lifting, and climbing like I am at the job I have now.

Of course being as I am, I do hope that soon I shall find something better. Though it does worry me that I might be being a bit ungrateful for what I have. Well if I stay put I'll not be bending so much, though my lift may increase. I do believe that the place is looking for someone to move up, and I have quite some experience at the position that they might look to move me to, so that is pretty good as far as I can see.

Of course I could be entirely wrong about my prospects, and only be able to work until the end (or near the end) of my evaluation time and then get laid off. Still the evaluation time is almost 900 hours if I read the sheet that the temp agency gave me correctly.

Anyway, today I've answered mail here and explained, I do, did, have an external keyboard. Until a bit ago I wasn't wanting to drag it with me but it seems to me that this job I only have to survive getting though the hard labor part of it!!

A very good thing!

One thing I'd been missing for some time as I am in the midst of what looks like a permanent move is a separate keyboard while using my lappy.
Why is that such an issue? 'Cause it seems that whomever designed lappies never considered the consequences of placing the mouse pad directly under the space bar... I touch type and having that thing there means that I consistently tend to drag my thumbs across it among other things.
Needless to say this impedes my writing at best. I still don't have power, and expect that to be at least another month away, so I have to find various places to sip on power while using the net.
With a full time job that is going to be very limited at best. Other than the above and that I'm not writing stories, just reporting on my current life, things are looking up more every day!
