A lot depends on how you want to define the story. I've a revenge story in Debt Collection, but it doesn't start with him being on a downer. Mack may qualify for you.While I've a lot of stories with the MC being on a downer and working his way up, but it's not a clear revenge story - Survivor is one, Odd Man in College is another, Finding Home may qualify for you, so may Runaway! The Scot's Gunslinger may qualify. As would many others.

Not quite the same falvor since there is no betrayal/revenge, but Finding a Job by Dual Writer starts with a wounded vet being discharged, with no work, no skills, no home, no money. Some of these later turn out not to be quite correct, but the beginning is a pretty low point.
