Something to post - finally

Posted at

The good news is, that thanks to great editors I'll finally have something new to post. The bad news is, that I have managed to start more than one multi-part stories. Which means that there are at least two trilogies - one two parts ready and the second one half ready - and then there is a third one which may turn out even longer...

I'll start with the oldest one, written more than two years ago, but left unpublished since my proofreader hated it. Just lately I got a second opinion and decided to give it a try. So, Collateral Damage, Book I - The Vengeance.

"A young man accepts an administrative position in a small bank and moves into a small, rural town. He notices a young woman, fancies her, and soon they are married. A fairy-tale come true? Except that after a while it starts to look as though nothing is what it seems; not even the aftermath, once the dust settles."

Warning, this IS a dark story - or a series. I'll try to post one chapter in a week. Voting will open after a few chapters.

The Initial Seeds of Success - format errors

Of course I managed to mess up with the formatting. Just tried to fix it and and reposted the story. Sorry about the mess.
Update: Still the horizontal lines aren't what I'd like them to be. Will try to fix that a bit later.

A new story - and universe

After wasting a way too much time writing some crap that will probably never be published I finally posted something new. Not yet the story I planned to post ('The Guardians' is still being edited) but something different; a short story in a new universe: 'Once Upon a Time in Finland'. I have some ideas and one longer story under work for that universe right now, but the time for those will come only after 'The Guardians'.

Looking for final proofreader/editor

Since my former final proofreader/editor is currently unavailable I'd need a new one. I have two editors who hopefully have been able to clean most of the defects and idiocies from my texts, but I'd feel a whole lot better if there'd be someone to do the final read-through. Right now there's one short (9000+ words) story ready and one bigger one (126000+ words) in editing phase.

So, if you feel that you're able to tolerate a stubborn non-native writer - please contact me.

Some feedback

'the dumbest fucking ending to a story I've ever read' - should I feel honored? At least there WAS a twist at the end of the story. Most likely I didn't get a good review from that reader?

First I was going to brush that away like all the other negative feedback I had received before but then I started thinking it more closely. I had eagerly rushed through some stories myself and suddenly the ending of the story was different than what I would have wanted it to be, unexpected, disappointing, maybe unhappy - and I admit that I had felt betrayed in those situations. But did that make the story itself bad? Maybe in a sense that the ending didn't give me the feelings that I wanted to have - but it forced me to face the fact that this it how things usually are in real life. Not so many walks towards the sunset on the sunny side of the street.

I'll keep on writing and most likely disappointing some of you people with my ideas. It's not personal, my mind is just wired that way.

...and I did exchange some emails with the person who gave the feedback. In good spirit.
