A new story starts

'Parenthood' was supposed to be a short story about a cheating spouse but it turned out to be..., well, something else as you may guess from the title. It's a bit different than the stories I've already published, maybe a bit slower but hopefully not totally without twists. Everything has already been written and edited - it just takes me some time to review the edits. 20 chapters (+ epilogue) total. I've been planning on posting two chapters a week, on Thursdays and Mondays.

Final chapters of 'Whatever It Costs' soon up

All edited. Really. Finally. My great thanks to my editors who have done an terrific job. Despite of crappy grammar, a whole lot of misused and misspelled words they managed to make the story readable and at some points it may even look like the story I wrote in the first place.

So, what does that leave to me? I guess that I can at least take the credit for the unbelievable storyline, remaining mistakes, goofy characters, etc. Once I have time and courage to take a look at my story one more time I'll try correct the remaining errors that I'm aware of. Maybe some time next year. Or later.

I have two other stories written and one of them already partly edited but I'll not start posting it until I have enough fully edited chapters ready so that I can be sure that I can post all the chapters on more or less regular intervals. Once out, 'Parenting' will be a bit different than my previous stories - even if it was written during the same 'flow' as my two first stories.

Something different - 'His Halloween Trick

The darkness in 'Whatever It Costs' has brought me so much feedback that it just is not possible to answer you all separately. However, I do read them all and I'll try learn from my goofs. Unfortunately you'll probably see the results only with my sixth or seventh story since the five first ones are all written.

My Halloween story is the fifth story I've even finished and the first idea was to take part of that 'Halloween 2015' contest but the I decided against it. First, it did not feel correct since I shamelessly borrowed (read: stole) an idea from Lumpy. Secondly, the story was too long! I really tried to write a short story and it became almost 26000 words - almost 1000 words too long. Okay, not too bad, just snip away a few unnecessary words and chapters... Like it would work that way.

So, I put the story out as it was, at least it shouldn't be as dark as my previous stories. Since I could not really decide if the story genre would be either Romantic, Horror or Humor I left it open. I guess Halloween can combine them all.

About Whatever It Costs

First of all, I'm NOT going to apologize what I wrote. I don't write my stories for money or fame. Anonymous writing with faulty grammar is probably not the fastest way to richness. I'm a bit news freak, I like to read all kinds of news and stories, good and bad. Maybe that is why some strange ideas keep on popping to my head and some of them start a life of their own and make me wonder: Why would that kind of thing happen? What would happen after that? What happened before it? Writing those things out is cheaper than seeing a shrink. Wiser, safer? At least I live thousands of miles away from most of my readers.

I do plan my stories: I'll try to think the whole storyline and the main twists and turns well before I start writing but this writing business turned out to be scary: When you start writing you may have a good idea how things should be progressing but suddenly come the butterfly effect; some of you characters says something however small but it starts bothering you and the story takes a totally different turn. Once the dust settles you understand that this was the way it was supposed to be. It was something unavoidable. Maybe this does not make any sense to all readers but I'm sure that at least some of the writers can understand it.

I have been told that this story is cruel and unbelievable and such things just don't happen. Maybe so. In real life bad things do not happen to good people. In real life the powers that be would never use whatever means to protect their power. In real life no knit together community would support any wrongdoing while being afraid of change. That is why the story is fiction, a fairy tail. And it came to me the way I wrote it down.

I admit that there are probably many factual errors (and probably grammar errors as well) and for those I do apologize. I also apologize by positioning the story in a country foreign to me - as nothing like that could never happen in my own country. After all, here we have almost no corruption at all - we only have unofficial clubs of good old brothers, several of them...

Not all my stories will be like this.

Darker tones

Two more chapters (33&34) today and at this point 'WiC' makes quite a sharp turn towards darker tones. As much as I hate spoilers myself I just want to tell you... Wait a second - I'm not going to give any hints! I'll just try to keep the story coming, a new chapter or maybe two in every two or three days. It just takes me a few days to recover from the humiliation my editors give to my grammar skills.
