Carolyn Nolan thinks "all the good ones are taken" when she first meets Bill Pierce looking sexy but with a baby in his arms. She discovers that he isn't taken; then she discovers that he isn't good, either. He's an arrogant, opinionated, fossil. Still sexy, though.

Bill Pierce likes the looks of Carolyn Norton, not only her chest, but her hair and voice. He finds her personality, however, annoying.

Carolyn had decided to marry Bill despite his arrogance because she couldn't imagine marrying anybody else when Bill excited her so sexually. She's staying on her very best behavior, but sometimes it's awfully hard.

Bill Pierce married Carolyn despite all the advice. She might be infuriating, but she's even sexier. Now, he is exercising his self-control, difficult as that is sometimes.

Carolyn, as an economist, knows that wants are many and resources to satisfy those wants are limited. When she'd refused him a date then, she'd been going steady. Could he work up the nerve to ask her down here and risk learning that she'd been letting him down easy?

Bruce Walters figured that he wasn't going to make much money from actually writing poetry. Being a bad-boy poet, though, gave him a license to live on the wild side, even while teaching at a staid university. Then he met Janet, and she taught him what 'wild' really meant.
