Birdmen is a text version of a graphic novel. It's my take on a Batman-type heroic group who operate in Detroit during Prohibition--the era of The Purple Gang, Machine Gun Kelly, etc. They fight the mob despite corrupt cops and courts. The have a super car called Black Widow. Join them as they fight to save Detroit from destruction by the Mob.
Mike is a middle aged highly successful accountant who gets sent to jail for killing a young girl whilst drunk at the wheel of his car. He is taken in by Eddie McManus, who runs all of the rackets in Chelmsford Prison with the blessing of the warden. Eddie runs a string of inmates who are transvestite prostitutes. Little does Mike know that while he is currently Eddie's accountant and secretary, he is actually being groomed to become one of Eddie's "girls"
A young college teacher has a run-in with four tough female students. They turn her life upside down, and with each passing day she sinks further into degradation and desperation. There's violence in the story, but it's not a story about violence. It's about intimidation, fear, humiliation, and how much emotional trauma a person can endure before doing something desperate. The 1st chapter and a half have no sex, but then it's plentiful.

Mostly, he goes after kidnappers, and that proves very lucrative as he assumes the persona of a detective and troubleshooter. Not only that, but he establishes his own version of the Baker Street Irregulars.

He fights Comanches, weds his lady-love, spends some time as a town marshal and as a bounty hunter. He does a lot of good to make Texas a better place to live, including starting the first Normal school for women. 11 chapters.
A cheating wife and her black lover are discovered by her husband. An investigative reporter wants to tell the story and discovers the truth but never gets the chance. I had to include some 'life lessons'at the end. Kids should be taught these early in life.
