They set off a bomb that caused the time machine to jump John to the steppes north of the Black Sea back during the Dark Ages. This is the story of how he became a very big fish in a medium size pond when he rescued some women from marauding nomads. Naturally, all of these women became his wives, and things kind of grew from there.
