A story in the Furnished Room Universe
In 2003, because of his gambling addiction which has put his family in financial jeopardy Charles Moore, a Denver Colorado civil engineer accepted a high-paying, high-risk job with Applegate Engineering repairing infrastructure in Afghanistan during the early days of the United States’ involvement in that war. Within six weeks he meets an attractive interpreter with whom he begins an affair.
The old man had searched in vain for a special "something" that had eluded him for most of his life. Now, at the end, that most special of all human experiences was finally offered to him. Not all the pertinent tags have been displayed. To do so would take away from the impact of the story.
The time is 1941. The place is England. The main character is Honey Weston. A female with posh roots and base instincts. A family history of German connections and petty criminal activities. Honey is ready to take the stage with her mixture of class and crude. She wants to be good but can't help being bad.
It starts when Don rescues of a young girl from taunting bullies on a school bus. That Chance Meeting develops into a sexual adventure for Don with a fourteen-year-old vixen.
