Alice placed the fresh flowers in the vase by the headstone. Tears running down her face as she thought of the man that had been her soulmate and lover for forty-seven years.

"Well Tom it has been three years today since you left me alone. It is hard, harder then I thought it would be. Honey, not a day goes by that I do not miss you. The kids visit about ever other month if I am lucky, but they have their own lives and are busy, not much time to visit an old grey-hair woman. Alice reached into her purse and took out a tissue and blotted the tears that were running down her face.

"I must look a mess, I bet my make-up is running."

She removed her compact and put some powder on her face, checking herself in the small mirror.
