Chapter 13

The good news was that my sexual explorations with Roger were very, very satisfying. The bad news was that it would probably be weeks before Roger and I could arrange time to be alone again. We lived pretty far apart, and he very rarely was allowed to be home alone. Even meeting at the library didn't work out too well, since the weather had turned rainy, and on the days when I could get to the library, it rained, so we couldn't go out to my favorite park bench. Sitting in the small library under the watchful eye of his aunt didn't allow for much fun. I did get him to feel me up once behind the bookshelves, but we were interrupted before I could get off. Also, final exams were fast approaching, and I actually had to spend a lot of time studying. So while I did get to see Roger a few times in May, we just didn't have any opportunity for serious sex. I was back to getting what sexual satisfaction I could at home by myself, which was not enough.

It was just before my final exams began that I got the letter from Gary. It read:

" I was your watch guard at the library. It was hard for me to find you, but I did. I thought about calling you, but I didn't want to surprise you on the phone. If you ever want to do anything like that again, you can rely on me. I would really like to see you again, at the library or under any circumstances elsewhere. Please call me. "

I was stunned. I had never, ever expected to encounter Gary again. I barely remembered him. I had very carefully not given him my name, and I had not been back to the main library since I had stripped and gotten off in the bathroom months before. It had been fun and exciting, but had also been dangerous, and I had been determined not to take that sort of risk again.

At first, I was panicked. Gary knew my address and phone number. He could tell my friends what I had done. He could blackmail me. He could tell my parents. He could stalk me and rape me. After I calmed down, I realized that he could have already done any of those things, or worse, but so far he had not. He had written me a discreetly worded letter with his address and phone number, and given me the choice of whether or not to contact him. I decided that it was not something a crazy person would do, but I wasn't sure whether or how I wanted to respond.
