Things had settled somewhat. Each couple developed their own rhythm. Taylor and Raul were back on track. He was no longer upset about the baby she carried. He figured not to worry. The child which they learned was a girl was his no matter what.
He occasionally met up with Jennifer to talk about his son. The child everyone assumed was Enrique’s. During those meetings, they couldn’t help but enjoy a quick session of bumping uglies. Even though they loved their significant others. It was something about that trauma bond that made sex between them insanely delectable.
It was just sex. Nothing more.
As Raul stood in the mirror getting dressed for the birthday party Taylor had planned for him. She helped him with his tie, “The big three-four today, are you excited?”
He smiled and kissed her mouth, “Yes. Thanks for spoiling me.” His day started with a blow job and Taylor riding his cock wildly. Then she served him breakfast, all of his favorites. His excitement grew when he found the sex toys she purchased to do a little role play after the guests would leave.
“I can’t wait until everyone leaves,” he said.
“The party hasn’t started.”
“I’m ready for the after-party.”
“Did you find my surprise,” she gave him a nudge.
He giggled, “I did.”
“It was supposed to be a surprise.”
He pulled her in for a kiss, “I love you.”
“I love you too, now hurry, people will be here any minute.”
The guests had arrived. Raul’s mom couldn’t help but eye Jennifer suspiciously. She looked a lot like the woman she had seen leaving Raul’s office. Even though she had dropped the issue when Raul negated any nefarious dealings, she couldn’t help feeling uneasy around Jennifer.
As the night progressed, they ate, talked, and laughed. They watched as Taylor and Raul danced to Achilipu by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico which was one of Raul’s favorite salsa bands. He held her hands, a basic step for a few counts, a cross-body lead and another, a turn, close position, a dip, and a spin. They cheered as they watched.
Enrique smiled but inside his gut turned. He remembered teaching Taylor how to dance. It was one of their favorite things to do. Jennifer nudged him, “Fix your face guapo.”
He cleared his throat and stepped away. She looked at the back of his head as he disappeared and went out on the lanai. The song ended. Everyone clapped. Taylor kissed Raul, “Happy birthday, amor.”
“Thanks, babe, I love you.”
Jennifer saw how Raul looked at Taylor. She couldn’t help but scowl. When she looked up, she caught Raul’s mom’s suspicious stare. She smiled and went to the bathroom. She touched her belly as she looked at her reflection. There was a knock at the door and she heard Raul’s voice.
She opened the door and stared at him, “What was all that?”
“All what?”
“You and Taylor?”
He shook his head, “She’s my wife.”
Jennifer stared and then laughed, “Right. Sorry. Your son has me out of sorts.” She rubbed her belly. Little did they know, in the next room, Raul’s mom stood listening to their exchange. Her stomach felt ill. She couldn’t believe what her ears had just heard.
She saw Jennifer touch Raul’s face and he didn’t flinch. He simply smiled, “We’ll talk next week. I promise.”
She smiled, “Okay papi.”
She saw when Jennifer walked away and when Raul entered the bathroom. Her heart was broken.
Taylor was in the sitting room when she saw Enrique staring out into the night; she went out and spoke to him, “Are you okay?”
He nodded and chuckled, “I remember when we used to dance like that.”
She smiled, “Yeah, you taught me how to salsa. Those were fun times. How many times did I step on your feet?”
“Only a few hundred.”
They laughed. They shared a sweet look. Raul had stepped outside, “There you are mi amor,” he walked over and kissed her passionately, “I missed you.”
Enrique smirked inside.
Raul turned to him, “We’re about to cut the cake.”
Enrique nodded, “Then let’s eat cake.” He walked off.
Taylor pulled Raul’s arm, “What are you doing?”
He shrugged, “What do you mean?”
“Kissing me like that.”
“You’re my wife.”
Her head tilted, “Raul. We talked about this.”
“So, I’m supposed to walk on eggshells around him and not love on my wife. He’s lucky I don’t crack his head open for what—you know what Taylor; I don’t want to argue tonight.”
“Fine. Be an ass if you want.” She turned to leave.
He reached for her and spun her around, “I’m sorry. Please. Please forgive me.”
She eyed him, “You’re just asking for forgiveness now so you can get your prize later.”
“Hell yeah. I’m dying to get these people outta here.”
He kissed her mouth.
After the cake was passed out, they had a drink. Raul spoke, “My greatest wish is to remain with my beautiful wife for many years.”
She kissed his mouth. Later, as everyone began to leave and there were but a few, Enrique took the baby home with him and Jennifer. Raul had already walked his father to the car. He went to look for his mother inside and he found her standing in the living room. She didn’t smile, “Ma what’s the matter?” he asked.
“Hijo tell me the truth, is that woman Jennifer having your child?” she asked in a low but firm tone.
