Marooned Again

{Author’s note: This story is a follow-on to Marooned. Reading Marooned first will help understand the situation. Failing that, here is a short synopsis.}

[Synopsis of Marooned:

Elaine and I had become marooned together on a very suspicious island somewhere in the Caribbean. At least our cruise ship was in the Caribbean when it sank. Elaine was a beautiful woman, but would have been my last choose of a companion, as she had been extremely abrasive and rude to everyone, including myself. We were eventually made to understand that the island was actually a spaceship filled with thirty billion aliens who vaguely resembled cockroaches. (I know, I know. Give me a break. When faced with a common danger, Elaine and | discovered that cooperation worked better for us than competition, so we became lovers.)

Presumably, our guide was the AI of their island/spaceship, who communicated mentally with us. After I was able to clarify some things for the AI regarding the illogical actions of humans, our alien guests concluded that all governments on Earth were too corrupt to continue and simply shut them down. (Don’t ask. You can’t do what they had done to get to Earth, using only technology we understand.)]
